[A&V] Sr. Manager, Pricing & External Affairs

Position Purpose
Sr. Manager of Pricing & External Affairs contributes directly to Pfizer’s business from a pricing perspective by maximizing the company’s benefit through timely and optimal NHI price setting for new drugs, and by minimizing the company’s losses due to downward price adjustment through price revisions and repricing.
Responsibilities
Manage activities for NHI drug price listingDevelop strategic NHI pricing strategy and gain endorsement of NHI pricing strategy and proposals of NHI prices with Country President and Therapeutic Area Leads through the Pricing CommitteeBuild strong alignment & partnership among Japan Pricing Core members (New Asset & Access Strategy team, New Asset Analysis team, DJ, Marketing team, Medical Affairs team, Launch Excellence team, Policy and Public Affairs, and the Global Access & Value) to ensure optimal price settingDevelop robust pricing dossier and strategically manage price negotiations with MHLWDevelop Long-range forecast of NHI price assumption for Operating PlanMinimize the downward price adjustment by price revision/repricing through cross-functional collaborationMaintain good relationship with “Policy Planning Division for Pharmaceutical Industry Promotion and Medical Information Management, MHLW” (former EAD) and act as a mediator between Pfizer and MHLW to flawlessly manage all product-related issues, as well as NHI pricing negotiationActively participate in trade association activities (FPMAJ, PhRMA, FIRM, etc.) to establish a pro-innovative pricing frameworkContribute to building a high performing team by actively engaging in coaching junior colleagues and nurturing a positive environment where people feel energized and eager to speak upDesired Skill Set
5 or more products’ experience in NHI pricing is required and 5 or more years’ experience in NHI pricing is preferableComprehensive knowledge of the healthcare system & policy, deep knowledge of the NHI pricing & reimbursement system and extensive experience in NHI pricing negotiationInnovative, creative and strategic thinking with a strong problem-solving capabilityExcellent communication skills to interact with external/internal executive-level stakeholdersTeamwork /networking & interpersonal skills, and negotiation skillAdvanced writing ability and excellent communication skills in Japanese, and communication skills in EnglishActive and positive communicator with a sense of inclusionPfizer is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable equal employment opportunity legislation in each jurisdiction in which it operates.
