Sr. Manager /Associated director , Downstream MSAT  (Base in Shanghai )

Position Background:

This position reporting into the Technical Scientific Solutions group (TSS), comprised of a team of engineers and scientists dedicated to supporting Merck's technologies in the biopharmaceutical industry in China. The group is responsible for proactively pursuing and performing process development, scale up implementation and after sales technical support  from upstream to downstream in biopharmaceutic industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Management:

Lead and manage downstream team of PDS or MSAT, providing guidance, coaching, training, and performance evaluations. Contribute to the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategies for downstream support. Set and achieve goals and objectives aligned with PS strategy.

Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture that emphasizes innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Operational Excellence:

Cooperate closely with Sales and CA to support PS business strategy, maximize the opportunity seeding and pre/after sales support. Identify and resolve operational inefficiencies, driving continuous efficiency, productivity improvements.

Coordinate project related activities and communicate project status with all relevant parties on critical projects.

Work with Lab manager to achieve Mlab operation excellence.

Technical Expertise and Problem Solving:

Provide expert-level technical support and troubleshooting for customer downstream processes, including purification, filtration and other downstream applications etc.

Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to achieve GTM success.

Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements, applying new technologies and methodologies as appropriate.

Customer Engagement and Communication:

Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication.

Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, addressing their needs and concerns promptly and professionally.

Participate in customer meetings and presentations to demonstrate expertise and provide technical insights.

Qualifications:

Education: Master degree in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in downstream processing within the biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical industry, with at least 3 years team management role.

Skills:

Strong leadership and management skills, with a proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams.

In-depth knowledge of downstream processing technologies and methodologies.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to handle complex technical challenges.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.

High energy, teamwork, self-motivated.

Ability to travel up to 20-40% of time to customers (occasional global travel expected).

Experience with PD , MSAT or GMP manufacture is preferred

Experience with regulatory requirements and compliance in the biopharmaceutical industry is preferred.
