Job Description: 
The leader takes the medical lead and medical responsibility of a therapeutic franchise within China Medical Affairs. To aligns the medical strategy with global, business unite, Merck China R&D, and cross functions. And ensures the execution across the life cycle of the asset, BD & new product launch if any. To ensures all medical activities for the maintenance and enlargement of existing marketing authorizations and provides new scientific data to improve the diagnosis and treatment of the franchise diseases for the benefit of the patient.
The leader is a trusted partner for the external scientific community and enables development and execution of scientific interaction plans with external experts, patient association group, health authorities and payers etc.
 
Your role:
 
Strategic Activities:
Medical leadership role in iCBP plan & implementation. Medical Affairs Strategic Plans (MASP), including strategic objectives, activities and KPIs, for corresponding franchise in close alignment with global, business unite, Merck China R&D, and cross functions; ensure consistency and alignment across the organization, including persistent follow up. Be the medical expert for discussions with BU and other internal functions.
 
Maintenance Activities:

Facilitate the clinical studies & project according to iCBP/MASP.Lead and follow up of all required medical activities for maintenance or enlargement of existing marketing authorizations, including writing or update of scientific documents for regulatory procedures (Clinical Overviews (CO), Clinical Summaries (CS), Addenda to Clinical Overview (AtCO), Clinical Expert Statements (CES), renewals (REN), Answer to Objections (AtO), Investigator Brochure (IB) etc.; response to Authorities’ questions, meeting with Health Authorities, medical contribution to Periodic Safety Update Reports (PSUR, PBRER), Risk Management Plans (RMP), assessment of benefit/risk ratio of existing products, safety statements; medical review and support to local and regional medical affairs studies and investigator sponsored trials, collaborate study, including presentation and review of study documents (protocol, CRF, study report, etc.), company position papers.Medical review of publication manuscripts and promotional materials.Participation in internal committees (e.g. publication committee) upon request.

 
Medical Congress and KTL Activities:
Strong scientific relationship to KTLs and key medical/scientific societies; advisory boards; strong medical input (with scientific data and analyses) to scientific events in order to communicate new scientific data; production of training materials for internal or external use.

 

Portfolio Extension Activities:
Upon request by the TA lead due diligence of new product opportunities.
 
Medical Management and Business Leadership:
Contribute actively to and be a valued and influencing medical affairs co-lead on asset/brand teams.
 
Scientific and Technical Leadership

Lead and supervise staff to ensure optimal research design, execution, analysis and publication, with zero tolerance for redundant, non-scientific, or futile projectsLead yearly meetings planning and prioritizing data generation projectsPost-hoc data analysis initiatives to evaluate risks and benefits of exploratory analysisDemonstrated influence in external scientific community be it through peer-to-peer interactions, research and educational collaborations, publications, presentations, or otherParticipate in and contribute significantly to internal or external trade, professional organizations, academic or regulatory working teams on matters that impact their Therapeutic AreaWith global, regional & China Medical Affairs, develop and maintain asset Scientific Communication PlatformsStrong curiosity & learning agility with innovation digital solutions

 
Regulatory & Compliance Management
Successfully collaborate and contribute resolution of regulatory, reputational, compliance and other asset issues management.
 
Talent Management and People Development

 

Who you are:

Advanced degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in a relevant scientific field is preferred.Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in medical affairs, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams, ensuring optimal research design, execution, analysis, and publication of scientific data.Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners. Commitment to talent management and people development, fostering a high-impact culture within the medical affairs team.
