Job Description SummaryAs the Technical Leader – Gas Turbine Accessories CM&U, you will understand and develop customer and market needs into solutions that bring significant value to the customers and the Gas Power business. You will utilize your technical and business depth and breadth in leading the team’s execution throughout entire projects’ lifecycles from initial scoping through design and field installation, support, and validation. The projects’ short ­cycle environment provides a diverse and challenging scope of assignments, including first ­to ­field production ­ready NPI (New Product Introduction), creative solution development, and practical utilization of existing and new assets. You will have product and business influencing opportunities while receiving quick real­ world real­ time feedback on your team’s design efforts.
Projects will include a full portfolio of NPI and established upgrade offerings across the entire global installed base of GE Vernova Gas Turbines such as complex fuel system upgrades, complete turbine and compressor replacements & steam accessories. System ­level and detailed component design will span all mechanical and fluid accessory equipment including valves, piping, structures, pumps, motors, inlets, exhausts, heating / ventilation, building / foundations, and plant layouts.

Roles and Responsibilities

Design Plant and Accessories systems, sub-systems, and components that meet cost, compliance, safety and schedule requirements through a culture of planning and project management for all assigned projects.  Ensure work is executed in accordance with GE design practices and quality procedures.Provide state of the art HD ITR Engineering services for assigned CM&U projects on Gas Plants of the actual GE fleets (H, F, E, B, and Legacy Alstom). Define and prepare system process flow diagrams, perform mass and energy balances, develop functional and operational requirements, engineering drawings, and functional specifications.Execute NPI Programs in accordance with the published NPI Process for HD ITR Services providing Plant and Accessories expertise and optimize cost and customer outcome in close cooperation with the HD ITR engineering team/ Product Lines / Fleet owners.  Own the quality of the technical review packages (ex: CDR, PDR, DDR, SPR) presented to the CTH community.Provide efficient ITO engineering support for conversions, modifications and upgrades (CM&U), Complex- and Extended Scope Projects in cooperation with the ITO organization and the regional teams to create customer value with Plant integration and support winning on projects. Provide engineering support in partnership with Product Services Engineering and Product Safety on Engineering Requests (ER), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), safer cases and support customers to maintain availability and reliability on a high level.Maintain an active role in developing and defining the state of the art in power plant CM&U in order to anticipate, apply, adapt or develop technologies for product introduction, quality assurance, performance enhancements, cost improvements and problem resolution in meeting current and future business needs.Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus.Supports the resources allocation within the team to balance workload.Identifies risks for complex projects in early stages, documents them and follows up until closure.Participates in the triage of safety cases and identify how to proactively ensure safety.Identifies team technical gaps and participate in the resources strategic planning to close them.Communicates issues timely and with transparency, proposes strategic plan to tackle them.Ensures technical rigor through review and approval of Design Studies in the fields of pipe stress analysis, flow analysis, structural analysis, and piping design.

Required Qualifications

This role requires significant experience in the Engineering/Technology & Accessories.Master's degree from an accredited university or college or a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering + 10 years of experience in related field.

Strong oral and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems, demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.Knowledge of applicable national & international codes/Standards/directives such as IEC, NEC, CSA, IECEx, ATEX, ASME.Ability to perform at least one of the following: flow analysis using Flow Simulator, CFD analysis, Structural Analysis using ANSYS WB and/or STAAD Pro, pipe stress analysis using AutoPIPE, hand manual calculations for foundations, anchors and bolting.  Experience with power plant installation, startup and testing. Knowledge of Gas turbine accessories. Ability to generate and implement simplification ideas, to write specifications, procedures, and manuals that conform to prescribed style and form, and to synthesize information from different engineering disciplines.Experience working with a globally based engineering team and proven ability to work cross functionally with Application Engineering, Requisition Engineering, PDE, and Sourcing.
