About you and this role - What you would do in this role

Internship opportunities exist in Dow’s Global Purchasing team for individuals who are working towards a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a Business-related degree such as Marketing, Supply Chain, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Management, Communications. We are interested in individuals who are motivated by the challenges and rewards of working for a company that is experiencing tremendous growth and change.  The positions are located at Dow’s world headquarters in Midland, Michigan or our Purchasing Strategic Sourcing Center in Houston, Texas.

Students will be assigned challenging projects that will introduce them to Dow’s Purchasing process and provide exposure to Dow’s businesses and internal functional partners.  Assignments vary and will be designed to create value by supporting Dow’s Purchasing work process for an assigned portfolio.  This may include working with an internal client or partner to clarify service, quality, volume, or logistics sourcing requirements.  This may also include analyzing data and market intelligence to identify sourcing alternatives available to partners, identifying suppliers capable of meeting Dow's requirements, or developing pricing or other commercial analysis that is consistent with Dow's requirements, all while maintaining communication with internal clients. Additionally, this could also include projects that help analyze, understand, and improve the complex Transactional Purchasing process that enables delivery of our services to our stakeholders.

Student interns will be part of the Dow National Student Program, which includes students from a variety of educational disciplines and universities.  This program provides a competitive salary, paid vacation, paid travel costs to and from college, subsidized housing rates, and planned social activities and events throughout the summer.

Qualifications – Required education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that are needed for this role (must haves).

Pursuing Undergraduate degree in Engineering or a Business related major, such as Marketing, Supply Chain, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Management, Communications, etc.Minimum cumulative overall GPA of 3.000 (on a 4.000 scale) is preferred. A minimum requirement for the U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.Reliable attendance is an expectation of every Dow employee, therefore reliable transportation is required.
