In addition, the internship program allows students to grow both professionally and personally through interactions with research and business professionals in support of projects aligned with department initiatives. Students will learn and work under a practicing professional who will provide guidance and mentorship.

Business Development

Summary:

Multiple factors in recent years have changed the state of play in biopharma drug licensing. These factors include pricing reforms (both in the US and in Europe), issuances of new regulatory guidelines for novel therapeutic modalities and platform technologies and increasing competition in oligonucleotide drugs and gene editing systems. Thus, key business terms of licensing contracts must adapt to these industry trends in recognition of the potential business impacts. This project aims to evaluate trends in how certain contract terms are evolving by 1) working with a mentor to determine recent industry factors that impact contract terms for licensing deals 2) creating a searchable database that includes the specified contract terms in recent licensing deals and 3) analyzing how the negotiated terms have evolved in recent years to in accordance with the changing industry forces. This project will culminate in a presentation to the Ionis Business Development and Alliance Management teams which will directly inform our ongoing licensing negotiations.

Requirements: 

MUST be currently enrolled in a U.S. Undergraduate and/or Graduate Degree Program and not graduating prior to the completion of the Ionis internship (Update according to your requirements/project) MUST be able to begin internship between 6/9 and 6/16/2025 MUST be able and willing to remain in the program through at least 8/15/2025 MUST be able and willing to commit to a minimum 40-hour workweek
