In addition, the internship program allows students to grow both professionally and personally through interactions with research and business professionals in support of projects aligned with department initiatives. Students will learn and work under a practicing professional who will provide guidance and mentorship.

Research Toxicology and Informatics

Summary:

The nonclinical informatics team is focused on providing solutions to technology gaps and process inefficiencies to enable effective research and collaboration As a member of this team, you will gain a vast knowledge in software development, cloud application engineering, automation, data modeling – all within an agile work environment The Software Engineering Intern will work within the nonclinical informatics to design, develop, and deploy a robust sample tracking system to enhance operational efficiency for end users The solution must be scalable in a cloud environment, integrate with existing software solutions, contain a user-friendly interface for data entry, and maintain well structure data to enable downstream analytics and reporting You will enjoy working on challenging technical issues, engaging directly with stakeholders, and use creative and innovative techniques to develop solutions

 

Qualifications:  

Our ideal candidate values communication, learning, adaptability, and creativity Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Math & Computer Science, and/or a related field Previous experience with cloud technology, automation, full stack development, and/or Front-end development Previous internship experience in a software development and/or test related area Experience with programming languages/frameworks: NodeJS, Angular, React, Python, Java, and/or Bash (Angular and NodeJS preferred) Experience with development tools: Amazon Web Services, Git, Jenkins, Puppet, CHEF, Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker, and/or Linux (AWS preferred)

Requirements: 

MUST be currently enrolled in a U.S. Undergraduate Program and not graduating prior to the completion of the Ionis internship. MUST be able to begin internship between 6/9 and 6/16/2025 MUST be able and willing to remain in the program through at least 8/15/2025 MUST be able and willing to commit to a minimum 40-hour workweek and work onsite in Carlsbad, CA. Housing and travel assistance not provided for—local applicants with suitable transportation are preferred
