Job Description

The AbbVie EXCEL Externship Overview

The AbbVie EXCEL Externship is a two-day immersive experience for sophomore students interested in future internships with AbbVie. Students will join us at AbbVie's Headquarters in Lake County, IL during the Summer of 2025 to:

Get immersed in AbbVie’s cultureGain hands-on experience in a variety of key business areasBuild an extended network of AbbVie representatives, senior leaders, and students from across the countryParticipate in cross-functional professional development opportunitiesLearn more about AbbVie’s career opportunitiesBe considered for an internship for the following summerAbbVie will provide travel, transportation, and lodging for eligible students.

Operations Overview:

The AbbVie EXCEL Externship in Operations serves as a key talent pipeline for our Operations Development Program Internship. Externship participants are strongly considered for Internship opportunities within Operations for the following year. Successful interns will be considered for the full-time Operations Development Program upon graduation.

AbbVie’s worldwide business offers you an opportunity for a variety of potential work experiences as both an intern and full-time development program member that are aligned to a variety of operations functional areas, including those listed below. Interns are placed in assignments based on business needs and skill set.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be currently enrolled in university, pursuing a bachelor's degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field with an expected graduation date between December 2026 - June 2027Willing and able to do an internship between Junior and Senior yearInterest and ability to relocate for AbbVie’s 10 to 12-week on-site internship in Branchburg, NJ, Irvine, CA, Lake County, IL, Waco, TX, or Worcester, MA; though there is a possibility of being placed within any U.S. AbbVie or Allergan Aesthetics location

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated leadership skills (i.e. extracurricular activities or projects)Excellent problem-solving, written, and verbal skillsExceptional interpersonal, leadership and project management skillsProven track record of teamwork, adaptability, innovation, initiative, and integrity

Note: Mobility is a key component as a pipeline internship to our full-time Operations Development Program. Full-time Operations Development Program Members will be required to experience at least one assignment based in one of our U.S. Operations Plants and will rotate to different sites with each rotation based on business need.
