Northrop Grumman is seeking an RF, Mixed Signal and Antenna Design Engineer in Redondo Beach, CA.

The RF & Mixed-Signal (RFMS) Products Department is a comprehensive group that includes various specialized sections such as Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) , Power Amplifier (PA) , passive, antenna, and mixed-signal integrated circuit (IC) design. Each of these sections plays a crucial role in the development and integration of advanced radio frequency and mixed signal technologies, contributing to the overall success and innovation within the team.

In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to work on RF, antenna, and mixed-signal designs across the entire spectrum—from IC design all the way to component, module, unit, and system-level development. This hands-on experience will allow you to gain a comprehensive understanding of engineering design lifecycle and contribute to cutting-edge projects that push the boundaries of technology.  

As a member of the RFMS department, you will work on:  

Designing and simulating RF circuits and systems using industry-standard EDA tools.  

Conducting measurements and characterization of RF components and systems.  

Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions for wireless communication and radar applications.  

Assisting in the development of integrated circuits and mixed-signal systems.  

Documenting design processes, test results, and technical reports.  

Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in RF and microwave technology.  

Basic Qualifications: 

A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

Be completing or has completed their degree (Master’s, or PhD) from an accredited institution

Be majoring in or having majored in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Master’s or PhD is preferred.  

Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher (unofficial academic transcripts must be provided at time of application by uploading the documents to your application or profile). 

Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)


Preferred Qualifications: 

Technical Skills:  

Understanding of RF and microwave fundamentals, including transmission lines, impedance matching, and S-parameters.  

Understanding of mixed-signal design concepts, such as analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion.  

Basic understanding of coding (Python, MATLAB, or similar).  

Familiarity with EDA tools such as ADS (Advanced Design System), HFSS (High-Frequency Structure Simulator), CST Studio Suite, Cadence Virtuoso, or similar.  

Proven coursework/assignments on integrated circuit design.  

Understanding of RF measurement concepts and equipment, including:  Network Analyzers, Signal Generators, Power Meters, Spectrum Analyzers, Vector Signal Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Power Sensors

Soft Skills:  

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.  

Ability to work well in a team environment.  

Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
