Structural Engineering Summer Internship - Current Seniors and MS Students
KPFF is seeking summer interns interested in experiencing the daily life of a Structural Engineer. We provide you with a summer packed with training programs to prepare you to be successful, activities to help you connect with our team, and real-world projects to apply your skills. At KPFF, 2 out of 3 of our interns return as full-time employees or return for another internship in the next year.
Who We Are Looking For
Students curious about Structural Engineering and wanting to understand the daily life of a Structural Engineer. We enjoy working with interns who are eager to contribute to their teams and who are interested in making connections and getting to know the people they work with. For this role you will need to have completed a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (with an emphasis in Structures or Architectural Engineering, prior to the start of the internship.
You are interested in Structural Engineering and would like the opportunity to be exposed to a wide range of projects and conditions. You enjoy working with and learning from others to create work that you are proud of. You take the initiative to solve challenging problems and are a proactive team member.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Structural Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in structural design, working closely with our experienced engineers on real-world projects. You will have the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge, develop your skills, meet other students who are in the same field, and contribute to meaningful work. You will assist in the preparation of calculations and construction documents on active jobs under the guidance of project leaders. You will have the opportunity to participate in project meetings and site visits.
Position Overview
This is a non-exempt, temporary position. All overtime hours are paid at a time-and-a-half hourly rate.
Salary
The pay rate for this position is $30.50 an hour for interns awarded a bachelor's degree prior to the start of the internship.
Monthly Way We Work stipend to assist with remote work and transit expenses.
Work Schedule
40-hour work schedule, Monday through Friday Interns work Monday-Thursday in our Orange County Irvine office. Interns have the option to work remotely on Fridays from home.Minimum Qualifications
You must possess a completed bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (with an emphasis in Structures or Architectural Engineering) prior to the start of the internship.

Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table. Duties require the ability to actively engage with a computer for several hours per day. May occasionally need to lift items up to 15 lbs. Duties require in-person attendance, Monday through Friday, during our business hours of 8 AM to 5 PM at our office in Orange County Irvine for the training period. Following a satisfactory training period, a hybrid schedule of 4 days per week Monday through Thursday in the office, and Fridays from home may be accommodated.Our Employees
