At Genentech Research & Early Development (gRED) we have initiated an exciting journey to bring together and further strengthen our computational talent and capabilities by forming a new, central organization - gRED Computational Sciences (gCS). gCS is on a mission to partner across the organization to realize the potential of data, technology and computational approaches that will revolutionize how targets and therapeutics are discovered and developed, ultimately enabling novel treatments for patients across the world. We stand at the beginning of this exciting journey.
The Computational Catalysts group within gCS is a diverse, curious and action-driven team at the intersection of computation, engineering and science with ambition to advance our technical excellence. The focus of the team is on partnering with the informatics and scientific communities to create a computational and data ecosystem that powers scientific discovery and accelerates decision making. We aim to modernize our ability to acquire, store, link, share, find and analyze data across the organization through scalable and integrated solutions that truly make every data point count.
This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.
The Opportunity
Partner with the gCS Computational Catalysts leadership team to craft strategies to deliver a transformational data and systems ecosystem to power gRED’s groundbreaking science and fuel innovative AI approaches to revolutionize pharma R&D.
Build and enhance strategic plans by organizing and facilitating strategic planning workshops, which will engage key stakeholders in developing actionable strategies to drive our department forward.
Focus on strategic initiatives that enhance our collaboration with scientific stakeholders and optimize our data-driven processes.
Program Highlights
Intensive 12-week, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are in May/June
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.
Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.
Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.
Who You Are
Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:
Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).Must have attained a Master's Degree.Required Major: Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA), Master in Management (MIM), Master in Management Studies (MMS).
Required Skills:
Strategic planning, including analysis (e.g., SWOT), stakeholder landscaping, and goal setting frameworks (e.g., OKRs)
Process improvement, including process mapping and analysis
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Project management experience
Data analysis and business intelligence
Prior experience working in the biotech, pharma or technology industries
Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $35-$40 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
