As our global footprint continues to spread across the world, we are looking for a Technical Writing Intern to join our team in Northbrook, IL or Chicago, IL.
What you’ll learn & achieve:
The Technical Writing Intern is responsible for the documentation of new platform features, training materials, and various consulting materials.
+ Help develop the portfolio of help systems, user and technical guides, administrator and learner training materials (online help and PDFs), release notes, technical papers, presentations, and best practice/consulting guides for the ULTRUS suite of software products
+ Comply with corporate style guides
+ Effectively collaborate with Technical Authors, business specialists and Development teams to create accurate and useful documentation
What makes you a great fit:
+ Rising senior currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in: Technical Communication, Computer Science, English, Journalism, Psychology or relevant field
+ Knowledge of localization processes
+ Solid understanding of various methodologies used in the software development lifecycle
+ Experience with DITA authoring, software development and bug tracking tools
+ Mastery of technical tools:
+ XML authoring tools
+ Adobe Acrobat
+ HTML/CSS editor
+ Screen capture and editing tool such as TechSmith SnagIt
+ Content Management Systems
+ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word
+ Microsoft Windows administration fundamentals, such as security concepts
+ Superior writing and editing skills appropriate for an end user client audience
+ Methodical, organized, self-directed
+ Demonstrated ability to learn, use, and effectively explain software applications in single-sourced, topic-based style
+ Motivated self-starter with strong verbal and written communication skills
+ Understanding of the DITA Open Toolkit, HTML, CSS editing
+ Must have the indefinite right to work in the United States.
What we offer:
+ Total Rewards: The hourly rate for this role is $25.00. Qualified candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus to assist with housing, travel, and other relocation expenses, subject to terms and conditions. Your internship will consist of a 10-12 week long project, networking, learning & development opportunities, and will provide you with the opportunity to make a real world impact.
