2025 Summer Intern - Clinical Imaging Group, Early Clinical Development
Department Summary
Genentech’s Research and Early Development (gRED) Early Clinical Development (ECD) organization is responsible for developing and executing early development clinical strategies and plans to provide proof-of-concept data with respect to safety, efficacy, and the utility of biomarkers for gRED new molecular entities.
Working within the Clinical Imaging Group, the intern will support a project focused on using ophthalmology images to support our AI development and data science efforts.
This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.

Hone data science and AI skills by working on real world problems with meaningful impact on clinical trials.
Present results at team meetings and at departmental meetings to the Genentech scientific community.
Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

Program Highlights
Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are in May/June (Summer).
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

Who You Are (Required)
Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:
Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree.
Must have attained a Bachelor's degree (recent graduates not currently enrolled in a grad program).
Required Majors: Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics.
Required Skills
Programming skills (ability to code in Python or R relatively comfortably).
Familiarity with medical imaging modalities both theoretically and within the context of data science applications.
Familiarity with deep learning techniques and frameworks (e.g. self-supervised learning, PyTorch).
Scientific communication skills.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $45.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
