As an intern, you will work alongside experienced scientists on cutting-edge research projects, gain hands-on experience with advanced chemical synthesis and analytical techniques, and contribute to discovering new therapeutic compounds. This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.

The Opportunity

You will join a working chemistry laboratory and synthesize protected amino acids and incorporate them into new peptides.

Multi-step synthesis from mg to g scale.

Learn industrial chemistry laboratory techniques and use of equipment (synthesis, purification).

Learn about various analytical techniques (TLC, LCMS, NMR, etc) and how to interpret the data.

Learn the proper use of an electronic notebook.

Program Highlights

Intensive 12-weeks full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

Program start dates are in May/June (Summer).

A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. 

Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are (Required)

Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:

- Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (junior/senior) with a quarter or semester to graduate (enrolled student).

Required Major: Chemistry or environmental engineering with chemistry courses.

Required Skills: 

Basic laboratory skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:

Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Desire to learn good laboratory techniques; organic chemistry lab a plus.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. 

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $26-$28 hour.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
