2025 Summer Intern - Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics – Quantitative Metabolomics
Department Summary
The Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) Department at Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED) holds a vision to advance the development of safe and efficacious life-changing therapeutics for patients as an integral partner. The Metabolomics and Lipidomics Group under Bioanalysis Function supports research biology, drug discovery and development across Genentech by generating high-quality metabolomics and lipidomics data through the use of state-of-the-art technologies and high-throughput workflows and deciphering biochemical insights for target assessment and biomarker discovery.
This internship position is located in South San Francisco CA, on-site.
The Opportunity
The candidate will support the development and evaluation of quantitative assays for global metabolomics by using various liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) instruments and data processing tools. This position provides an opportunity to significantly advance cutting-edge metabolomics workflows and impact on enhancing reproducibility and standardization of metabolomics assay for research and drug discovery projects. The key responsibilities of the intern are:
Implement and assess different analytical strategies to build a quantitative metabolomics assay for common biological matrices.
Establish and apply QC metrics to evaluate accuracy, precision, sensitivity, reproducibility, and robustness of the assay.
Standardize and automate data analysis workflow to streamline quality check and expand throughout while maintaining high quality.
Incorporating the quantitative workflow into project support for in-house studies.
Program Highlights
