2025 Summer Intern - Genentech Program - Site Operations
The Position

The Opportunity:


We are now accepting applications for the Summer 2025 Genentech Summer Internship Program. This post is for a site operations-based role in Oceanside, CA. Site Operations is responsible for the The Site Operations department is the backbone of our facility, ensuring the seamless execution of essential functions that keep our operations running smoothly. We are responsible for maintaining and optimizing all site infrastructure, orchestrating the intricate dance of logistics, and ensuring the highest standards of operational efficiency. Our diverse team covers a wide range of critical areas, including maintenance operations, utility engineering, master data management, scheduling, warehousing, and parts inventory. 


As an intern in the Site Operations department, you will perform various tasks under the guidance and mentorship of your manager with the overarching goal of reviewing and updating our business continuity documents. Your responsibilities will include:

Reviewing all business continuity documents and plans

Working with key stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational changes

Updating business continuity processes and procedures as identified

Ensuring comprehensive preparation for emergent events given new reporting structures and personnel assignments 

You will attend meetings, conduct independent research on relevant topics, follow a training schedule set by your supervisor, and perform tasks independently as appropriate. 

You will also summarize the purpose of your work and any findings and present future recommendations in the form of an oral and poster or slides presentation.

Specific focus on updating the Business Continuity plan for Materials Management and Facilities & Engineering within Site Operations

Program Highlights

Intensive 12-weeks, full time (40 hours per week) paid internship

Program start dates are between May and June 2025

Ownership of impactful business-critical projects

Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries

Final presentations of project work to senior leaders

Professional & personal development curriculum throughout the program, such as networking opportunities, workshops, tours, and panel discussions

Who You Are

Applicants must be age 18 or older for this opportunity

Must have a high school diploma or GED at the time of application

Preferred Majors/Coursework: STEM major with coursework in Biomanufacturing, Biotechnology, Biology, Chemistry, Bioengineering, or similar.

Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:

Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).

Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree (not currently enrolled in a graduate program)

Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).

Must have attained a Master's Degree.

 Community college affiliate (currently enrolled at a community college OR terminal A.S./A.A. degree holder within 1.5 years post-graduation at the time of application), OR B.A./B.S. OR Masters degrees

Preferred (but not mandatory) skills:
Please note: The goal of the internship will be to train you. The following skills will give you an idea of different opportunities. You do NOT need to have all of these skills in order to apply. Not all internships will use all these skills.

Familiarity with business continuity planning and documentation

Experience working with key stakeholders to gather and align information

Understanding of process optimization and procedural updates

Basic understanding of organizational structure and change management

Proficiency in documentation and reporting

Familiarity with spreadsheets like Microsoft Excel and other organizational software

Effective time management: organizing to-do lists, setting priorities, and following through to meet goals and deadlines

Offers will be made on a rolling basis after interviews are conducted.

The expected hourly rate range for this position based on the primary location for this position of Oceanside is $24- $35. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, level, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
