2025 Summer Intern - Global Product Strategy
Department Summary
Global Product Strategy (GPS) provides strategic business direction from research through to development, commercialization and medical excellence, collaborating with functions and affiliates to shape the future of medicine.
This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.
The Opportunity
The MBA internship position is offered in the strategic insights team, which sits within GPS and shapes commercial planning for early stage through launched programs. This team applies customer perspectives, critical thinking, expertise in external markets, forecasting, and market research to solving real business problems, influence cross-functional team strategy and inform teams’ business objectives and decision-making.
An MBA intern in the team will work directly with cross-functional Genentech / Roche teams and serve as a critical internal strategic thought partner and influencer in a disease or other business area (e.g., pipeline or portfolio). You will have the opportunity for direct collaboration with members of Marketing, Medical Affairs, Development, Regulatory, Business Development, Portfolio Planning, and Pricing/Market Access. Your work will directly contribute to internal programs and ultimately make an impact for healthcare providers and patients.
Program Highlights
Intensive 12-week, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship
Program start dates are in May/June (Summer)
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship
Ownership of challenging and meaningful business-critical projects

Who You Are (Requirements)
Required education
Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree (not currently enrolled in a graduate program)
Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student)
Required majors
Business administration (MBA)
Required knowledge, skills, and qualifications
3-6 years of work experience in consulting, finance, marketing, sales, drug research and development related fields
Prior work experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry
Strong written/verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively interact with team members, executives & senior leadership, at a global and cross-functional level
Excellent quantitative skills; experience using Excel-based models and analytical platforms
Strength in translating analyses to concise, compelling business stories that influence decisions and strategy
Proven track record of leadership, time-management, project management, and teamwork

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California State is $50-$55 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
