Department Summary
The Hardware and Software integration (HWSI) team focuses on numerous critical path activities in the Sequencing project. The team is responsible for process development and optimization, software development for new hardware, integration activities for the next model of the sequencer, and system troubleshooting activities to name a few. This team is responsible for ensuring that all the various complex components on the Sequencing platform are working together seamlessly while ensuring system run success and performance.
This internship position is located in Santa Clara, California, on-site.
The Opportunity
Will get the opportunity to drive an aspect of the project that will have impacts on the Roche Sequencing program.
Develop and manage software for the project with guidance of fellow engineers.
Work closely with senior engineers on integration and characterization work of new hardware components or capabilities.
Program Highlights
Intensive 12-weeks, full time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are in May/June (Summer).
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.
Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.
Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.
Who You Are (Required)
Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:
Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree.
Must be pursuing a Master’s Degree.
Required Majors: Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Bio/medical engineering or a related discipline preferably with a background or interest in instrumentation software.
Required skills
Programming experience with Python.
Experience with integrating hardware and software.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Understanding of DNA manipulation techniques or sequencing methodologies.
C++, git, wet lab experience.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $45.00-$50.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
