2025 Summer Intern - Manufacturing Critical Materials, Oligo Development.

Department Summary:

Oligonucleotide development group (ODG) is a product/process development team based in Branchburg, NJ, and is a part of RMS’s research and development division. ODG’s focus is development of oligonucleotide synthesis and purification methods to be used in commercial production. We are also responsible for evaluating new methodology and instrumentation to ensure that current and future oligonucleotide development and manufacturing demands are fulfilled for the Roche’s Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) based Diagnostics products.

This internship position is located in Branchburg, ON-SITE.

The Opportunity:

The focus of the summer intern will be on assisting the development activities of process optimization, Improvement and automation in the oligonucleotide production for existing and new products. This will include assisting in oligonucleotide production and characterization by HPLC/UPLC, LCMS, and UV-Vis.The intern will be assisting/performing the experiments in the lab under the guidance of a mentor, documenting the experimental results and will share the findings within the team. The intern will also take part in the group meetings between R&D, process development and manufacturing teams across multiple sites and may share the experimental results and feedback as required.

Program Highlights:

Who You Are:
Required Education:
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student)
- Completed at least 2 years of college/university to be eligible for the program.
- Must have a ≥ 3.0 GPA

Required Majors: Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemical engineering or related fields. 

Required Skills:

Previous research or process development experience in the industry/academia.Experience in high throughput automation process or programming.Good communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:

Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.A good understanding of chromatography, spectroscopy, and DNA/RNA structure and properties.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of New Jersey is $22-28 hour.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
