2025 Summer Intern - Predictive Technologies & Sciences, Translational Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics - Development Sciences
Department Summary
This internship position is within the Department of Translational Pharmacokinetics & Pharmacodynamics (tPKPD) in Development Sciences (DevSci). DevSci is a translational science organization that spans the entire drug discovery and development cycle, from early-stage research to drug commercialization. Within DevSci, a critical component of the drug development pipeline involves assessing the immunogenicity risk of protein therapeutics. Located in tPKPD, the Predictive Technologies & Sciences group focuses on both forward and reverse translation research to develop in silico and in vitro models that effectively predict the clinical immunogenicity and pharmacokinetics of novel drugs.
This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.
The Opportunity
Leverage large language models (LLMs) to automate the extraction of structured data from complex, unstructured sources.
Utilize the structured data to train machine learning models and assess their predictive performance for clinically significant immunogenicity, benchmarking against existing models.
Actively participate in group and departmental meetings to present and discuss your findings.
Program Highlights
Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are in May/June (Summer).
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.
Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

Who You Are (Required)
Required Education
You meet one of the following criteria:
Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).
Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).
Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).
Required Majors: Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biomedical Data Science or related discipline.
Required Skills:
Proficiency in Python (NumPy/pandas/scikit-learn) and/or R (tidyverse).
Strong understanding of statistical principles and regression analysis.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

Proven track record of solving complex biological problems using computational approaches.
Hands-on experience with LangChain or similar frameworks for LLMs.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $45-$50 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
