2025 Summer Intern- Prescient Design, Machine Learning and Structural Biology
The Position

Department Summary

Prescient Design is seeking exceptional graduate interns with a demonstrated research background in machine learning and structural biology, a passion for independent research and technical problem-solving, and a proven ability to develop and implement ideas from research. You will join a vibrant team and contribute to the forefront of machine learning research in computational and structural biology.

Our mission is to develop and apply cutting-edge methods in designing novel molecules. Researchers will primarily focus on the deep learning subfield of machine learning but should be broadly interested in methods capable of effective representation learning that can help drive and sharpen the research questions we study. Fundamentally, our research goals allow us to collaborate closely with and–contribute uniquely to–many different project teams across the company.

This internship position is located in New York, NY, on-site.

The Opportunity

Join a vibrant team and participate in cutting-edge research in machine learning and structural biology.

Contribute to and drive publications, present results at internal and external scientific conferences, and make code and workflows open source.

Program Highlights

Intensive 12-week, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

Program start dates are in May/June (Summer 2025)

A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. 

Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are (Required) 

Required Education:

Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).

Experience developing machine learning models for scientific problems.

Strong publication record and experience contributing to research communities, such as conferences like NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR.

Required Majors: Computer Science, Physics, Statistics, Applied Math, or related technical field.

Required Skills: 

Strong programming skills in languages like Python.

Intense curiosity about the biology of disease and eagerness to contribute to scientific and computational efforts. 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:

A deep understanding of graph neural networks, equivariant architectures and transformers.

Interest and experience in applying machine learning to problems in structural biology or physics.

Experience in maintaining or contributing to open-source projects for research.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. 

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of New York is $40-$55 hour.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
