Department Summary

Our team is dedicated to researching and developing cutting-edge automation systems for molecular diagnostics and sequencing workflows. We are a diverse group of agile engineers and scientists who are deeply passionate about pushing the boundaries of biotechnology, chemistry, and automation. Our work lies at the intersection of hardware, software, fluidics, chemistry, and materials.

This internship position is located in Santa Clara, California, on-site.  

The Opportunity

You will have the opportunity to assist our team of engineers and scientists in the testing of proof-of-concept devices and fixtures related to our innovative platforms.

This role offers hands-on experience in an interdisciplinary setting, encompassing a range of responsibilities such as testing and characterizing components, sub-systems, and fixtures for DNA purification.

You will also be responsible for orthogonal testing in standard PCR/qPCR instruments.

You will be involved in data analysis, report writing, and presenting results.

Collaboration with fellow engineers and scientists will be a key aspect, as you work closely together on verification activities.

Program Highlights

Intensive 12-weeks, full time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

Program start dates are in May/June (Summer). 

A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. 

Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are (Required)

Required education: You meet one of the following criteria:

Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree.

Must have attained a  Bachelor's degree (recent graduates not currently enrolled in a grad program).

Must be pursuing a Master's degree.

Must have attained a Master's degree.

Must be pursuing a PhD.

Required Majors: Biology, molecular biology, genetics, or a closely related discipline.

Required Skills

Experience with basic molecular biology techniques and equipment.

PCR, qPCR, DNA extraction/purification, basic lab skills (i.e. pipetting).

Works with integrity and takes ownership of their work.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.

Experience with DNA extraction, isolation, and/or purification.

Strong drive for problem solving skills for multidisciplinary challenges. 

Naturally curious and hungry to learn new technical skills and concepts.

GPA of at least 3.5.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting 

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position in California is $25.00 - $45.00 per hour.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
