Candidates for this position may be eligible for Freeport-McMoRan immigration work visa sponsorship based on the following criteria:

A foreign national working in a full-time status on an F-1 visa may be considered for H-1B visa sponsorship based on business needs, meeting company performance and safety expectations and with site approval. A foreign national working in a full-time status may be considered for employment-based permanent residency sponsorship, based on business needs, completion of six (6) months of employment, meeting company performance and safety expectations and with site approval. 

 

Where You Will Work   

 

Interns are assigned to various locations in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Iowa, supporting our business in a variety of disciplines. 

Description

Under general supervision, assists with a variety of conventional to complex engineering projects to support operations. Assist in layout and design, specification development and preparation, new product evaluation and data collection.

 

Assist in coordinating mining, mechanical, civil and other engineering projects to include developing a scope of work, generating cost estimate and preparing a project information packageAssist in evaluating current systems and processes and implement optimizations to improve efficienciesProject work including project development, budgeting, engineering, purchasing, construction, cost control, quality controls and implementationDevelop engineering projects utilizing new technology to constantly upgrade and improve safety efficiencies, cost controls and protection of the environmentPromote and initiate positive employee relations designed to facilitate teamwork and job satisfaction through participationParticipate with operating and maintenance departments in problem solving efforts to improve safety, efficiencies, cost controls, and protection of the environmentAssist operating and maintenance departments in the implementation of new technologyIntern may be assigned to Long Range Planning, Short Range Planning, Ore Control, Surveying, Technical Support, or GeologyPerform other duties as requiredQualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Full-time student currently enrolled at an accredited four-year university majoring in an appropriate Mining Engineering discipline or related Engineering field; ORRecent college graduate having graduated within 12 months prior to internship start date with a degree in Mining Engineering or related Engineering fieldProficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointPossesses strong data analysis and problem solving skillsHighly accurate and detail orientedPossesses strong oral and written communication skillsDemonstrates initiative, organizational skills and ability to work well under pressureDemonstrates ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environmentMust be able to demonstrate our core values of honesty, fairness, respect, trust, and integrity

Compensation:

 

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $27.50 - $34.25/hour. Individual pay rates will be based on level of education and relevant experience.
