Job Description:

As a member of our Plant Engineering team, you’ll deliver Plant Engineering Equipment to the site that is “fit for purpose” for the manufacture of drug substances and drug products. You will collaborate with peers across the organization to deliver world-class results meeting Operational, Regulatory, Quality, Capacity, Sustainability and EHS requirements and prepare the site strategically for the future by introducing new plant engineering equipment and systems technologies such as steam, power distribution, high purity water systems, chilled water, clean utilities, HVAC and delivering agile plant engineering solutions. Each day, you’ll solve new problems while contributing to Takeda’s Industry 4.0 future, Sustainability goals and improving the lives of people around the world.

How You Will Contribute:

Technology Selection

Cross functional stakeholder management with our Partners in Process Engineering, Manufacturing and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Support / give recommendations to the evaluation and selection of new, state-of-the-art technologies and plant engineering equipment and and applicable equipment vendors (e.g. Water Systems, HVAC, Plant utilities, Clean Utilities, etc.)Identify future industry trends and support / deploy strategies for plant equipment/sustainable technologiesManage Plant Equipment Vendors and Architectural/Engineering firms in the delivery of CAPEX and OPEX projects in areas of responsibility.Apply knowledge of heat transfer, mass transfer, fluid dynamics, power generation and distribution, reaction kinetics to solve common plant engineering problems

Engineering and Equipment Design

Support Front End Engineering and Design activities in feasibility study and conceptual design phasesManage project turnover packages for Plant Engineering Equipment are delivered to site and that critical engineering knowledge such as as-built drawings, operating and maintenance documents accurate and up to dateGather requirements from Stakeholders - such as from Process Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Reliability, Maintainability, Automation, Sustainability and EHS – to support / develop Plant Engineering systems’ Basis of Designs, specifications for Plant Equipment and  Process Control Systems, Process Instrumentation and Process Safety Systems and De-vices, as applicable to plant systems and equipment.Support Scope of Work and RFx Packages for Plant Equipment Vendors, Plant Engineering Consultants, Architectural / Engineering services, Commissioning services and (Sub-) ContractorsSupport commissioning activities such as Factory Acceptance and Site Acceptance Testing of plant engineering equipmentWith Partners in Engineering Validation support the Qualification and Validation activities for Plant Engineering Equipment
 

Internship Development Opportunities:

Plant Engineering has opportunities for a Summer Intern to manage a couple small projects that will provide the opportunity to learn equipment sizing and specification, project planning and execution, and the documentation required to install compliant equipment in a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. They will partner with numerous stakeholders to execute the projects, providing them the exposure to the other functional areas necessary to produce drug product.

Job Requirements:

This position will be Hybrid and require 2-3 days in the Lexington, MA office per week.Attending an accredited university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in either Chemical, Biochemical, Electrical or Mechanical EngineeringUnderstanding of Process Unit Operations in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing is desirableUnderstanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is desirableExperience with statistical data analysis and data visualization tools is desirableHighly reliable and a strong team playerFlexible with an attention to detailStrong verbal and written communication skills

Internship Eligibility

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorshipMust be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2025 or laterThe internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (June 2nd- August 29th) or (June 16th - August 22nd)The intern must be able to commit to one of these time framesAble to work full time 40 hours a week during internship datesTakeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:

$21.00 - $46.00

The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship.  The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

 

U.S. internship benefits vary by location and may include:
