Tulsa Legacy Charter School is a premier PreK through 8th-grade charter school in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We continue to grow and harness best practices to serve and empower our scholars each year. We are looking for a Principal who embodies our values of commitment, rigor, excellence, achievement, teamwork, and empathy. The Principal is the leader of the school. Therefore, they drive exceptional scholar achievement, scholar culture, teacher development, and day-to-day school-level operations. We are a data-rich organization, so all practices are grounded in the data.
The Principal is ultimately accountable for all site-level results: academic, cultural, and operational. The ideal candidate has leadership experience in a high-performing school and has a big heart for scholars.
Data Management & Instructional Leadership
+ Lead the school team to achieve goals; align school goals to the TLCS model
+ Manage all school programs in a manner that ensures efficiency, effectiveness and compliance; evaluate programs and make changes, as necessary, in line with the TLCS model
+ Ensure timely, continuous and effective use of data for decision making and differentiated programming and instruction (Assessment Analysis Feedback, NWEA Analysis)
+ Lead professional development for all staff on instruction and culture
+ Conduct weekly observations of teachers with feedback, assist in coaching tier 2 or more veteran teachers by providing professional development and more in-depth growth/action steps
+ Provide coaching for assistant principals/instructional leaders on observations and action steps, Create grade level meetings agendas and facilitate weekly grade-level meetings
+ Make recommendations to the ED for curriculum purchases and lead in staff training for all curriculum
+ Coach and evaluate staff, create Improvement Plans and ensure follow-up and implementation
+ Work in conjunction with relevant staff for Special Education, gifted and talented, and counseling referrals.
School Culture
+ Provide the collaborative leadership necessary to implement the school’s mission; coordinate work and collaborate with the TLCS Culture Team . Conduct weekly check-ins with culture team, monitor behavioral data, ensure implementation of strategies/initiatives in response to data trends)
+ Create a school culture with staff, parents and students focused on strong academic achievement, equity, respect, and high expectations for behavior (aligned with the TLCS model) that allows students to take risks and strive to reach goals, by responding to parent concerns within 48 hours, training teachers on home visits and conferences, monitoring and managing all school-to-home communication, and attending Family Nights
+ Respond to survey data by reflecting on comments, questions, and concerns and creating policies, initiatives, or ideas to address teacher and parent concerns
+ Host weekly Leadership Team Meetings to problem-solve and proactively create student and staff initiatives
+ Create weekly staff email to ensure all staff remains connected and up-to-date
+ Coordinate School-wide Town Hall Meetings & Ubuntu Fests in conjunction with the culture team
+ Manage programming that enhances school culture
+ Support school culture initiatives to further develop the school culture
+ Work within budget to plan EOY Field Lessons for Scholars
+ Plan and lead staff learning experiences through professional development and grade level meetings focusing on school-to-home communication, student engagement in and out of the classroom, and mentoring programs available to students, community engagement, and summer engagement/ staying connected
+ Observe in classrooms and provide support with behavior management and classroom culture
+ Provide coaching and professional development on classroom management, classroom culture alongside the Dean of Culture.
Community & Family Engagement
+ Recruit, recommend for hire, onboard, train, and evaluate staff, and complete any other personnel actions, in accordance with TLCS policies and procedures
+ Establish, build and maintain community partnerships and relationships (arts partners, educational and child advocacy groups, business partners, media) to support the success of a diverse student population and the mission of the school, and to bring in volunteers and additional resources
+ Establish and uphold a school-based strategy for engaging families
+ Work in conjunction with Director of Operations to solve any HR issues arise on campus
+ Collaborate with the school leadership team to create and manage a safe and welcoming learning environment
+ Plan Summer PD with the TLCS leadership team
