Proficiently engages in high-volume reproduction of quality printed materials within the time constraints of the
Print Shop Department. Requires thorough knowledge of all offset press operations, procedures, and printing
safety practices, including working with offset printing presses, B/W and Color Copiers, folder, drill press, and all
bindery equipment. Operates peripheral support equipment, plate maker, cutter, and/or envelope feeder. Sort,
weigh, and apply postage to all incoming and outgoing mail. May engage in Sign Shop fabrication as needed to

Plans print jobs appropriately with special attention to details on production jobs.
2. Selects appropriate materials for print job, including paper type, size, and quantity, ink type and color, and determines final layout for finished product.
3. Receives and responds to questions regarding print capabilities, specifications, cost, and timeframes for completion regarding print requests.
4. Operates Ryobi presses, B/W and Color Copiers and associated peripheral print shop equipment. Loads and cuts paper and adjusts all printing and copy settings, such as page order, count, size, staple placement, and collating. Monitors machine operations, performs adjustments, test runs, uses densitometer and check for quality at each step to ensure a quality-finished product. Maintains individual production backlog to complete jobs by their due dates.
5. Maintains and cleans all printing or Sign Shop equipment and performs needed tests to ensure equipment is in optimal working order. Performs minor repairs and adjustments on equipment as necessary or refers repair requests to management to minimize downtime. Uses and calibrates densitometer to check press plates and press screen control targets to adjust digital platemaker setting annually. Uses color copier calibration spectrometer weekly to ensure quality and color control.
6. Aligns plates for critical registration of color separations and halftone placement. Checks files for accuracy prior to production and updates job file folders.
7. Sets up and operates multiple presses for quality by monitoring and adjusting roller pressures, blanket pressures, blankets, packing, and double pass registration checks. Ensures quality using densitometers to measure ink density to +/- 10 points of target range and keep the ink target range throughout the press run.
8. Uses Daily Bindery Backlog list to receive bindery production work, reviews and organizes jobs to determine best method and resources to efficiently complete assignments.
9. Receive, sort, bundle, and route all MMC, MHS interdepartmental mailings using Warehouse drivers or outside couriers such as MedSpeed, Springfield Clinic, and SIU. Keeps mailbox department individual names and department mailbox number list up to date.
10. Engages in the operation of bindery and/or all peripheral support equipment. Sets up and operates bindery equipment as instructed by the manager. Monitors machine operations, perform adjustments, test runs and check for quality at each step to ensure a quality finished product.
11. Weigh and process all outgoing USPS mail and packages, plus prep flat mail for processing while keeping cost containment in mind. Works with external service firms Quicksilver and O’Connor Mailing to ensure mail pick up and/or daily mail volumes are posted appropriately.
12. Operates a variety of print shop and bindery equipment, including presses, densitometers, high-speed copiers, plate makers, cutters, folders, collators, booklet makers, coil binder, drill presses, padding machines, shrink-wrap machines, laminator, creaser and envelope feeders. Performs general press maintenance weekly, oiling, greasing and cleaning as required.
13. Receives, puts away, stores, and monitors existing print stock, including paper, ink, chemicals, and equipment. Notify the Manager as existing supplies approach minimum levels. Cleans Print Shop on a weekly basis through 5S Program. Follows procedures to acquire MSDS sheets on new chemicals for approval prior to product ordering.
14. Packages, sorts, binds, or otherwise secures finished product and prepares product including use of shipping provider websites for accurate delivery. Completes daily job specifications and production impressions in Print Shop databases.
15. Works closely with other Print Shop personnel to assist in making sure assignments and production schedules are maintained and that difficulties encountered are resolved.
16. Performs other duties as assigned, including full support and back-up for other areas within the Supply Chain departments, especially during times of special need or staff absences.
17. Utilizes safety procedures and knowledge regarding the proper use of chemicals to clean equipment and to service equipment. Follows LOTO electrical policies and mandatory safety procedures when operating folder and cutter. May use a variety of hand or power tools, paints, release agents and glues for quality output.
18. Performs other duties as assigned including back-up for other areas within the Supply Chain departments, especially during times of special needs or staff absences.

Required ExperienceEducation:

Licensure/Certification/Registry:
Experience:
· Two or more years of print shop experience, with a good working knowledge of printing, press and bindery
functions, including digital files and color management.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· Possesses excellent math and writing skills to document all assignments legibly. Must be able to follow oral
and written instructions.
· Possesses the ability to regularly lift up to 100 pounds, push/pull transport carts,
· Ability to stand for prolonged periods throughout the work shift and tolerate close eye work. Involves
repetition utilizing hand controls for daily operations and work under stress to provide maximum service
levels.
· Possesses good customer relations, interpersonal, and training skills.
· Demonstrates the ability to multi-task autonomously while working on multiple responsibilities
simultaneously.
· Must be able to consistently conduct behavior in a controlled and professional manner that leads to good
