Job Description
We are seeking a skilled 2nd Class Structural Welder with experience in NAVSEA, fitting, brazing, and working in a naval shipyard environment. The ideal candidate must have over 5 years of experience in welding and be proficient with shipboard spaces and weld symbols.
ResponsibilitiesPossess and utilize standard tools for a welder.Work different shifts as required.Understand shipboard spaces and weld symbols.Pass HY-80 Pipe Test 6G (SMAW).Pass Flux-core HY 80 test.Pass Aluminum Plate test.Perform tack welding (SMAW).Safely lift up to 50 lbs.Safely hook up and operate a torch.Possess knowledge of Work Authorization Forms (WAFs).Follow instructions and collaborate effectively with team members.Weld assembly plating as specified by NASSCO and Navy standards.Weld fabricated cast or forged components according to specifications.Weld parts in position for fabrication of vessels, tanks, or other structural assemblies.Use carbon electrodes to cut, shape, and groove metal.Essential Skills5+ years of welding experience.Proficiency with standard welding tools.Knowledge of shipboard spaces and weld symbols.Ability to pass HY-80 Pipe Test 6G (SMAW).Ability to pass Flux-core HY 80 test.Ability to pass Aluminum Plate test.Ability to perform tack welding (SMAW).Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.Ability to safely hook up and operate a torch.Knowledge of Work Authorization Forms (WAFs).Ability to follow instructions and work well with others.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience welding assembly plating as specified by NASSCO and Navy standards.Experience welding fabricated cast or forged components according to specifications.Experience welding parts in position for fabrication of vessels, tanks, or other structural assemblies.Experience using carbon electrodes to cut, shape, and groove metal.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
The work environment is primarily based in a shipyard setting. This role requires adherence to safety protocols and the ability to work different shifts. The successful candidate must be prepared to participate in a two-day weld test starting at 6 AM each day, conducted at NASSCO facilities. Standard RT 3/8 plate weld tests with backing bars will be used in all positions, using 71t1 filler material and S-1 base material.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
