POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION:                             Production Supervisor  

DEPARTMENT:                     HAMBONE 2ND Shift - VA LINE

LOCATION:                           Ottumwa  

SALARY CLASS:                  Exempt

Principle Responsibilities:

Meet and exceed production goals set forth by plant managementSupervise production employeesMonitor and ensure proper procedures, safety, and cleanliness of production employeesEnsure policy compliance with all production employeesPerform various duties as assignedResponsible for meeting volume goals, reducing claims, maximizing yields, reducing cost, employee retention and maintain good working relationships with the Union, USDA (meat), and maintenance employeesEnsure compliance with food safety, and all human resources and safety policies   

 

Working Conditions: 

Production and maintenance settingsExposure to various chemicals, machinery, and knivesSlippery floors, cold temperatures, and loud ambient noise

 

Education:  

High School degree or equivalent required, or equivalent combination of education and experience  Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field preferred 

Experience:  1-2 years proven supervisory experience in the Beef or Pork industry preferred

Special Skills:

Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally in EnglishBilingual skills helpfulExcellent conflict resolution skillsComputer knowledge requiredGood organizational skillsAbility to work 50+ hoursGood attendance and safety records (Less than 3 points, for internal candidates)   

Relationships:

            Internal: Employees on the production line and plant management  

            External: USDA and Union  

            Supervision of Personnel: Hourly direct reports (15-25), production employees 

 

Comments:  The schedule for this position is typically Mon - Fri. Weekend work required as scheduled. During Fall Season, Saturdays are typically scheduled.
