2nd Shift Material Handler

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: It is the Material Handler’s responsibility to remove and to replace all materials at molding machines at new job start-ups and to continually monitor machines during shift to make sure materials and job-related supplies are available at machines during molding operations. Tends to operator station packaging and moving finished product to the proper Finished Goods area.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: These are duties that the person holding this job MUST be able to perform. The company makes accommodations on request, if the accommodations are reasonable, to allow otherwise qualified applicants to perform these functions.

Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformity to ensure quality levels are maintained and continuously improved.Maximize customer satisfaction levels.Assist in the training of personnel.Do walk around to all machines and make sure that material hoppers are full and grinders are empty.· Maintain proper size carton and control the amount of cartons at each machine, stacked as neatly as possible so plant will stay as neat as it can be.Make sure that operators have enough components (shafts, inserts, gas caps, etc.) at machines so down time can be eliminated.Make sure all jobs are using regrind at all times per control plans.Break down all empty gaylords and store neatly in proper location.Remove all materials and finished goods from around machine from previous runs during mold and material changes.Read mold book to determine what packaging is to be used for that job.Build packaging for the jobs running. Does not let workstations run out of packaging. Pull old tags from packaging before putting out at workstations.Weigh and re-label gaylord material/components and take to proper location.Break down all cartons from previous run and neatly stack in the warehouse.Drain hoppers and grinders.Clean machines and grinders from top to bottom during each and every mold and/or material change.Always properly check material in and out of warehouse.Fill hoppers with new material, as soon as possible, so it will be dried in time for next run.Make sure right material type is being used with the right regrind ratio. Label hopper and grinder with correct material lot number.Always check with the Production Supervisor if in doubt about material type, regrinds, piece weights, etc.Responsible for cleaning up any materials that may have spilled.Perform other jobs, as directed.

Requirements

 

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED preferred. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: 

· Valid forklift license required. 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/TASKS/ABILITIES:

· Must have a basic knowledge of injection molding equipment.

· Must have a basic knowledge of molding materials.

· Must be very safety oriented.

· Ability to work any shift and overtime, as needed.

· Willingness to take special training courses, when required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· Must be able to repeatedly climb off and onto a forklift. 

· Vision ability required includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

· Occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or bend.    

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· Noise level is moderate.

· Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
