POSITION SUMMARY:

Sprays surfaces of manufactured products with protective coatings such as paint, enamel, or lacquer by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Selects and mixes coating to written instructions and procedures. Pours coating liquid into spray container and connects pump to appropriate booth. Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray. Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat. Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent. Performs normal equipment maintenance and product testing. (i.e. – Wet film thickness, dry film thickness, holiday pinhole test) Operate forklift, load and unload parts onto paint conveyor line as well as hook placement on conveyor line. Coordinate part load sequence in accordance with loading manifest. Stencil job number and part number on parts in accordance with loading manifest. Control oven temperatures by reading gauges and adjusting controls.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
