Overview
QUALIFICATIONS: Have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. A college degree in a human services field is preferred. Have a valid Indiana driver’s license. Have demonstrated skill and/or potential in working directly with mentally handicapped and/or emotionally disturbed students. Supervisory experience or training is a plus. Be at least 21 years old.
SUPERVISION: This job reports to the Program Supervisor and does not have direct reports.
POSITION PHILOSOPHY: Be a part of a close-knit team that provides therapeutic and educational services to kids and teens with severe developmental disabilities and emotional disturbances. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS LISTED BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
To succeed in this role, you must show an understanding of the emotional and developmental disabilities of the people you serve. You will be trained to use proper interventions and approaches while helping our students with their daily needs.
• Ensuring appropriate supervision of the students in the program.
• Maintaining the required ratio for coverage.
• Filling shifts as required.
• Participating in on-call rotation.
• Training new staff.
• Communicating information necessary for staff to maintain a consistent, therapeutic environment for the students.
