+ GENERAL DESCRIPTION + The Medical Laboratory Scientist) coordinates and participates in a variety of complex technical tasks in the performance of laboratory tests to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. This is a generalist position, which includes microbiology, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, hematology, coagulations, and phlebotomy. + EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS + Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology/Laboratory Science, chemical biological or related degree is required. + Board certification (ASCP, NCA, AMT) as a MLS, MT, CLS, or MLT is required. + Basic Life Support certification required. + In addition to meeting the educational and/or license requirement(s) associated with this position, must be able to provide documentation (copy of transcript or diploma) to verify completion of education. At a minimum, documentation provided must be for the applicable college diploma(s) and board certifications. + WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS + Demonstrated competence in the area of laboratory procedures required. + A minimum of 6 months clinical laboratory experience is preferred. + Significant skill and knowledge in Laboratory Information System (LIS) applications / automated technology is desired.
