POSITION DETAILS:
This position is a part-time, non-exempt position, 20 hours per week. The hourly rate for this position is $18.50 to $20.50 commensurate with experience. This position, based on eligibility, offers a comprehensive benefit package, to include: health and dental insurance NYS retirement, vacation, sick and personal leave.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education (Associate’s Degree and two (2) years of transferrable program/functional experience).Experience relevant to the role of the position.Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse audiences.Demonstrated ability to plan, teach and evaluate informal educational programs through a variety of delivery methods to reach individuals and groups.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through oral, written and visual means.Demonstrated ability to function as a team member working with volunteers and staff.Preferred Qualifications:
Three (3) to four (4) years youth development experience.One (1) year experience working with Volunteers and Volunteer Management.Demonstrated ability to utilize computer technologies for educational and communication purposes.Program Responsibilities:
Program Delivery, Evaluation and Applied Research - 80%
Utilize established program resources and materials in program work.Teach existing 4-H programming to include, but not limited to: Animal Science Programs, the Cayuga County Youth Fair, and 4-H County, District, and State special events.Teach already-established 4-H Animal Science programming in support of other 4-H programming efforts as identified/needed to support the established Plan of Work. Assist in teaching existing innovative educational programs when grant-funded opportunities arise. Under the direction and oversight of program leadership, occasionally apply existing subject matter knowledge to create lessons plans as identified to deliver educational programs.Teach existing educational programs as defined utilizing a variety of proven educational methodologies. Provide 4-H Animal Science educational programs via mass media.Work to foster acceptance of the 4-H Animal Science program, methods, and policies while addressing community and individual needs and considering diverse audiences.Serve as a subject matter resource in the area of 4-H Animal Science to participants, staff and the general public.Provide standard responses and assist as needed in providing moderately complex nonstandard responses.Represent Cornell Cooperative Extension before the public, community leaders, government officials, Cornell or other land grant universities as part of program delivery.May be involved in multidisciplinary team efforts within the Association or regionally to deliver program.May assist in ensuring that program delivery is within scope of the statewide Plan of Work.Serve as a team member and cooperate with entire Association and Youth and Family Program staff to achieve Association program delivery goals.Implement program evaluation as designed.Interact with program participants to obtain evaluation data, to include: evaluating effectiveness of classes and instructors within program areas for all programs offered.Assist program leadership in the process of analyzing program data, and based on that analysis, assist in making recommendations for improvements in program offerings.Communicate evaluation findings to constituents as appropriate.Administrative Responsibilities:
Direction and Management - 10%
Assist in the planning of major 4-H programs and events.Provide input in planning the structure of delivering educational programs via various methods.Provide input to planning unit budget based on program feasibility needs and assist in identifying opportunities for 4-H fund development activities.Solve problems and resolve conflicts that arise in the operation of the 4-H Youth Development programming, utilizing appropriate policies and procedures and with guidance of program leadership as needed.Provide low complexity administrative management of established educational program goals.Assist program leadership and/or 4-H Team Leader with volunteer management.Perform tasks related to supervisory responsibilities as applicable to program staff, e.g. temporary summer assistants and program interns, when applicable, dependent on funding.Give guidance to volunteers and co-workers, including those performing similar work as assigned and in accordance with established policies and procedures.Implement the existing Volunteer Enrollment and Selection Process.Coordination/Operations - 5%
Organize and coordinate activities related to 4-H Club Programming (i.e. Cayuga County Youth Fair, Animal Science Programs, etc.).Coordinate identified administrative aspects of 4-H Animal Science Programming to include, but not be limited to: ordering and inventory of supplies and marketing of 4-H Animal Science Programs.Coordinate, compile and organize existing program resources and program materials.Effectively maintain professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication to facilitate continued programming efforts. Provide moderately complex administrative tasks to support the delivery of established educational program goals.Provide training to new and existing 4-H Volunteers.Provide low complexity limited tasks to plan the educational program and implement the program budget; submit program related expense receipts in a timely manner per procedure.Assist in utilizing effective marketing strategies in the promotion of programming efforts to include, but not limited to: print media, news media, social media, and multi-media efforts.This position may require the transport of program participants and/or program materials and resources in performing position responsibilities.Professional Improvement and Other Duties as Assigned - 5%
In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.Health and Safety - Applied to all duties and functions.
Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.
