A Mechanic

Scope of the Position

Maintenance Mechanics are responsible for but is not limited to maintaining, rebuilding, repair, and the preventative maintenance of all plant operating equipment and facility buildings. Responsible for ensuring all related SOP's and plant rules pertaining to RMP, PSM, safety, operating procedures, and personal conduct are followed. Responsibilities of this job requires diversity in mechanical ability to perform overall plant maintenance. Work includes tank vessel opening and clean outs, changing of piping, valves and general plant upkeep and maintenance .This job requires climbing stairs and ladders and also lifting (within OSHA guidelines). This job consists of outside elements where radiant heat or cold is normal work environment.

Position: Maintenance Mechanic

Shift:  Monday to Friday 40 hours/day shift/on call

 

Key Responsibilities

Perform certified welding, cutting and burning. Perform pump, gearbox and motor repair. Perform mechanical power transmission coupling and sheave alignment. Responsible for the process and utility piping. Inform Plant Manager of need to order parts consumed or for job completion. Complete all work instructions (work orders) maintenance and safety forms Provide accurate reporting on maintenance, parts management and preventive actions. Replacement of nuts and bolts in pipe flanges ranging in size from 1” - 48” diameter flanges. Must be able to work scheduled 8-hour days with intermittent 14 – 16 hour days for emergency repairs. Perform labor requirements such as cleaning, sweeping, tool room and warehouse inventory, trash removal, digging, weed spraying, shoveling, fire watch and confined space attendance/entrant, and other duties assigned by Supervisor.

What You Need To Be Successful

High school diploma or GED equivalent. More than 3 years of relevant experience in industrial or chemical environment highly preferred. Ability to use computer effectively, Microsoft programs, maintenance management system, e-mail, etc. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, manufacturer’s literature, diagrams or schematics. Must be able to complete specific job function training and/or certification programs. Ability to work off-shift requirements including: periodic emergency call out during off shift, including weekends and holidays. Must be capable of performing tasks in 100 degree ambient temperatures while wearing personal protective equipment.
