Abstractor
Overview This position will support the abstracting of data for the Bone Marrow Transplant Service Line. This data abstraction necessitates a high level of critical thinking skills and intrepration of data regulatory guidelines. Position will work with physicians and bone marrow transplant clinical staff. Strong candidate will possess ability to build relationships and rapport, willingness to upskill their abilities within data management, including ongoing training and education for bone marrow transplant disease processes and treatments; strong experience navigating EMRs and data management applications. Candidates with practical clinical experience in a health care setting is beneficial to this abstractor role. Abstracts clinical data used to capture patient health statuses, benchmarking with other organizations, and/or to meet regulatory standards using prescribed protocols and entering into appropriate database systems. Subject matter resource that advises and educates internal customers on clinical abstraction and registry data that aligns with regulatory requirements through an understanding of clinical interpretation of data and information. Provides knowledge and skills related to system regulations and regulatory reporting as evidenced by assessments or reports. Responsibilities Job Description Completes data collection per system and regulatory protocol. Applies regulatory and registry abstraction guidelines utilizing clinical knowledge for accurate and timely data abstraction. Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards. Completes validation checks once the data is entered. Leverages data abstraction and registries to drive quality improvement efforts and reduce variation. Responsible for identifying areas for streamlining and process improvement in the data collection process. Qualifications Required Experience Detail oriented Data entry Experience in current role or a healthcare setting Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology Technical skills with experience using Windows and Microsoft applications Preferred Education Associates degree in a healthcare field, science field or similar. Experience Three or more years’ experience in the areas of abstraction/registry, data/information analytics and/or information management. Compensation $24.29-$34.29/Hr.
