At ZEISS Research Microscopy Solutions, the Academic Account Manager works consultatively with university partners and a team of ZEISS Specialists to offer cutting-edge ZEISS solutions to address their imaging needs, ensuring customer success.

Success in this customer facing role requires an agile mindset with a strong customer focus based on foundational understanding of microscopy, imaging and its application to life sciences.In this technical sales role, you will interface with customers as well as the ZEISS Specialists, Product Support and Service, as the project manager, applying your product knowledge and expertise to customer applications to drive Customer Success and Product Sales.You will utilize the ZEISS Sales Process to qualify opportunities and advance them to completion; This primary sales function requires capability across the entire portfolio (product, application, and functionality), and full responsibility on business topics including strong communication and presentation skills, both in person as well as virtual/remote.You will work to ensure Salesforce CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system is up-to-date to ensure a funnel current with all opportunities properly characterized, key fields maintained so that forecasting is accurate.You will utilize the ZEISS Sales Process to qualify opportunities and advance them to completion; This primary sales function requires capability across the entire portfolio (product, application, and functionality), and full responsibility on business topics including strong communication and presentation skills, both in person as well as virtual/remoteYou will work to ensure Salesforce CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system is up-to-date to ensure a funnel current with all opportunities properly characterized, key fields maintained so that forecasting is accurateYou will focus on customer face-to-face interactions related to sales, support, relationship development, and customer retention; including the customers’ functional partners such as procurement, departmental supervisors, and all key stakeholders within their organization. Education: BS in Life Sciences or an Analytical Field of study or appropriate experience in microscopy/instrumentation. MS or PhD is preferred but not a requirement.Experience preferred in Life Sciences/Bioengineering/Analytical fields applying widefield fluorescence and confocal microscopy to research applications.Prior experience in technical sales and managing a field coverage area for technical sales or product support and/or research experience in lab environment.Excellent communication and presentation skills, both in-person and virtual.Proficiency in computing hardware and software and Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel)Positive “can do” attitude coupled with a willingness to continuously acquire product and application knowledge independently.Travel requirement approximately 50%.Nice to Haves:
Working knowledge of high-end microscopy, including laser scanning microscopy, and imaging techniques beyond simple image capture and manipulation (e.g., automated time lapse with Z-stack, etc.).Sound knowledge and understanding of Laboratory Safety requirements for BSL-1, BSL-2, and when required BLS-3 environments, as well as specimen handling of Level 3 (and below) pathogenic biohazards (e.g., bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, and prions).Knowledge and experience in biological applications and workflow solutions, including image analysis and bioinformatics is a huge plus.We have amazing benefits to support you as an employee at ZEISS!
