The Feller Center is the BSOS Colleges central hub for academic advising and career planning services for over 5000 undergraduate students This position will join a team of professional staff and graduate students who meet with and support undergraduate students at important junctures throughout their college careers This position will train as a general BSOS academic advisor and will take primary responsibility for advising students in the interdisciplinary Social Data Science SDSC undergraduate majorResponsibilities include Serve as primary SDSC major level advisor for students enrolled in the new Social Data Science SDSC major including appointments and drop in advising This position also works closely with the SDSC Director amp Assistant Program Director on SDSC initiatives and activities Oversee department level advising for the SDSC major including working closely with counterparts in the I School and in BSOS Departments to harmonize academic advising materials and services for students across both colleges and co host events and initiatives for SDSC students Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required Provide a range of college level academic advising services for students in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences in the Feller Center including appointments and drop in advising 4 year planning course selection university policiesprocedures Teach a 1 credit course for new students in the BSOS College Undertake special projects as the needs of the SDSC major and the Feller Center develop
