Purpose: The Academic Advisor II, under general supervision, recruits and advises graduate students concerning their career goals and academic requirements. Responsibilities: + Meets and corresponds with graduate students to provide academic advice and guidance. + Refers students to appropriate campus resources and departments. + Answers inquiries and provides information to prospective students, current students and parents. + Assists graduate students with adds/drops, withdrawals, changes of curriculum and other academic processes. + Provides input on graduate students’ academic status and decisions. + Reviews academic records and test scores to monitor graduate student progress and degree requirements. + Reviews and provides input on scholarship applications. + Provides input and support for master's admission process. + Coordinates graduate ambassador program and team. + Coordinates graduate program events and activities including new student orientation. + Serves as the staff liaison for graduate student organizations in the department. + Prepares academic and departmental documents and reports. + Provides support for faculty on academic-related activities. + Occasionally work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends. + Occasional travel may be required. + Other duties may be assigned. What we need: + Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. + Two years of related experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: + Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. + Knowledge of student information systems, degree planning, and degree audits. + Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. + Ability to present information clearly and concisely. + Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. + Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
