Position Summary The Academic Advisor and Recruiter in the School of Nursing’s Office of Student Success plays a vital role in recruiting, advising, and supporting prospective and current prelicensure nursing students. This position focuses on guiding individuals through prerequisites, admissions processes, and academic pathways to ensure successful enrollment and progression within the nursing programs. Key responsibilities include providing personalized advising, evaluating credentials, supporting student onboarding, and participating in orientation and recruitment activities. The advisor also collaborates with university offices and external partners to create a positive, supportive, and seamless academic experience for all students. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Counseling, Education, Nursing, Communication or a related field. 2 years of experience in academic advising, student services, recruitment, or a related role. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively advise and support a diverse student population. Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Nursing, Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in academic advising, recruitment, or admissions, particularly within a nursing or health sciences program. Experience working with various student populations, including first-generation students, and familiarity with strategies to promote student success and retention. The ability to build strong relationships with students, prospective students and stakeholders to inspire trust and success at UNCG. Percentage Of Time 50% Key Responsibility Student advising and support for assigned pre-licensure students Essential Tasks Manage a caseload of advisees. Provide one-on-one and group advising sessions to prospective and current prelicensure nursing students, helping them understand academic requirements, course selection, and program prerequisites. Guide students through the application process, offering insights into admissions criteria and supporting them in completing required documentation. Assist in the development of individual academic plans tailored to each student’s goals and educational needs. Serve as a resource for students experiencing academic challenges, connecting them with additional support services as needed. Percentage Of Time 10% Key Responsibility Data Management and Reporting for prelicensure students Essential Tasks Maintain accurate records of student advising interactions, advising sessions, and recruitment activities. Track and report on student progress, retention, and outcomes, using data to inform advising practices and contribute to program improvements. Assist in the assessment of advising practices and recruitment strategies to enhance student success and program growth. Percentage Of Time 35% Key Responsibility Recruitment and Outreach Essential Tasks Facilitate and coordinate recruitment efforts, including attending career fairs, information sessions, and community outreach events to promote the School of Nursing. Collaborate with high school counselors, community colleges, and other external stakeholders to communicate program information and admissions requirements. Conduct presentations and workshops for prospective students, parents, and community partners to explain the benefits of pursuing a nursing degree at UNCG. Percentage Of Time 5% Key Responsibility Coordination and Collaboration Essential Tasks Work closely with the School of Nursing and university offices to improve the advising and admissions process.
