Academic Center Manager (HEA) - Academic Center for Excellence in Research and Teaching (ACERT) **POSITION DETAILS** Hunter’s Academic Center for Excellence in Research and Teaching (ACERT) seeks an Academic Center Manager to collaborate with our Faculty Director while overseeing the center’s day to day operations. The ACERT mission is to promote excellence in teaching and research across the college by fostering a community in which faculty use innovative pedagogy, technology, and assessment to enhance their activities as teachers and scholars, and thus to facilitate engaged learning. From its inception, ACERT has been a hub for discussing pedagogical issues and supporting scholarship in all of its forms across Hunter’s three campuses and its many and varied departments, schools, and centers; thus, the Managing Director must excel at reaching out into the faculty to maintain and extend a dense network of intellectual exchange and dissemination of best practices. Reporting to the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs, in additional to CUNY title overview, the Academic Center Manager will be responsible for but not limited to the following: • Collaborate on the planning and implement ACERT’s year-round programming as identified by the ACERT Faculty Director and Steering Committee, including, but not limited to (seminars, research and writing support, special events, and funding opportunities for pedagogical exploration); • Collect, analyze, and synthesize data and create reports about ACERT’s impact and effectiveness; • Directly oversee ACERT’s office assistants, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to foster a collaborative and productive work environment; • Strategically Administer the approved budget, ensuring responsible allocation of resources that are in compliance with intuitional policies; • Prepare and present comprehensive annual reports that reflect the center’s financial status and alignment with the center and college’s broader goals; • Collaborate with the ACERT Faculty Director to schedule Steering Committee and Advisory Board meetings; • Manage the execution of a comprehensive outreach and communication plan that enhances ACERT’s visibility and impact. • Oversee the maintenance of the ACERT website, blog, and newsletter, while fostering relationships with faculty across the college to promote engagement; • Initiate and maintain collaborative relationships with various stakeholders within Hunter College and across the City University of New York (CUNY) system; and • Actively engage in CUNY-wide initiatives related to teaching and learning, including participation in the Centers for Teaching and Learning (CTL) Council, Digital Humanities Initiative. **QUALIFICATIONS** Bachelor’s degree and six years’ related experience required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Minimum three years of experience in instruction at the college level and faculty development in higher education • Ph.D./Ed.D. or discipline-specific terminal degree • Familiarity with a wide range of educational technologies and their application to teaching/learning • Expertise in academic assessment • Record of publication in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) • Involvement in Open Educational Resource (OER) projects and/or innovative projects in scholarly communications **CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW** Manages a College's specialized academic and/or research center operations under the direction of a senior administrator. - Implements and monitors comprehensive curriculum development program; makes recommendations to improve Center policies and procedures - Delivers a schedule of courses and workshops; analyzes programming outcomes - Oversees Center's budget and daily administration - Assists Director with developing funding and resource strategies - Prepares reports for management; may write grant proposals - May manage professional and/or clerical staff - May act on behalf of Director in his/her absence - Performs related duties as assigned.
