Reporting to the Director, K-12 Math Assessment, the Academic Designer Manager, K-12 Math Assessments will assist in managing the K-12 math portfolio and initiatives related to math assessments and innovative product solutions to help teachers make sound data-driven decisions to maximize student achievement in mathematics. The manager oversees a team of content and assessment subject matter experts who are responsible and accountable for developing high quality math assessment solutions and products that meet the curriculum standards and market requirements for math educational materials. This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States. This is a Project Status Worker (PSW) role. What you will be doing: Work closely with the Director of K-12 Math Assessment and the VP of K-12 Math Academic Design to execute multi-year publishing plans. Tasks include but are not limited to developing plant cost estimates and resource plans to meet the development needs for program practice and assessment items, ensuring that all content developed meets the highest standards of academic integrity and quality, and working with cross-functional teams to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget constraints. Work closely with the Director, cross-functional teams, and individual project leads, to oversee assessment development through all stages of manuscript and production Develop competitive and detailed assessment plans based on customer needs and state requirements. Ensure that all assessments developed are mathematically accurate and age-appropriate, adhere to best practices for assessment (content validity, reliability) and reflect a range of cognitive complexities, embody the McGraw-Hill Education’s Guiding Principles for Supporting English Learners, meeting accessibility guidelines, and helping all learners achieve academic success, align to McGraw-Hill Education’s guidelines for academic integrity, are published on budget and on schedule. Work with digital and content teams to inform development of new tools/feature sets for digital assessments based on best practices, including integration of adaptive learning and formative assessment as appropriate. Understand the implications of customer and sales deadlines, state curriculum requirements, and budget and resource limitations on workflow and schedule; Work closely and collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop best workflow, assign appropriate resources, and schedule benchmarks for program needs. Work closely with the Director to forecast and manage program budgets, identifying issues that impact quality, budget, and schedules. Maintain knowledge of item and assessment development processes to support quality monitoring and innovation Empower staff through professional development opportunities; work to enhance and extend the department’s content knowledge, assessment and pedagogical awareness, and digital knowledge; build leadership capabilities at all levels within the department, develop and retain talent, increase diversity, and communicate goals and performance improvement needs effectively. Maintain a strong awareness of the competitive environment, including a focus on assessments and digital technology. We are looking for someone with… Bachelor’s Degree in math or a math-related area; Classroom teaching experience is preferred, but not required. Expertise in assessment, data analysis, skill spine development and analysis, and educational outcomes. At least 5 years academic assessment experience in educational publishing developing print and technology-based assessments for the K-12 math market. Knowledge of appropriate industry and math content development practices, content standards, and academic and pedagogical trends, with the ability to drive innovation in teams and products. Experience managing budgets. Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills, with a demonstrated ability to allocate resources, manage vendors and oversee budgets and work plans. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills. Proactive, goal-oriented and collaborative, with experience leading multi-person teams and working both cross-functionally and hierarchically, and capable of building strong relationships at all levels. The pay range for this position is between $70,000-$90,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
