Among the responsibilities of this role are Masters academic Advising, engagement and retention, marketing and recruitment, employer outreach and placement and other activities in accordance with the needs and objectives of the programs. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree by start date and 3 years related experience Experience in student or academic functions at the high school or college level Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software Demonstrated experience building collaborative relationships Excellent interpersonal communication skills, oral and written
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business or a STEM field Understanding of, and ability to address, issues in higher education relevant to RSCOB’s MS programs. Experience with university systems for workflow and learning management such as Banner, uAchieve, Wings, and Pilot Ability to effectively communicate in an advisory and coaching role with graduate students. Experience in business development, marketing, and project management Connections with businesses and companies in the greater Dayton region and adjacent cities and states. Extensive knowledge or experience with college student retention and student success initiatives.
Essential Functions and percent of time: (30%) Master Level Academic Advising
Serves as primary advising contact for prospective MS students Provides regular academic support and guidance to current and prospective students in the MS programs Serves as the first point of contact for prospective students on admissions information, financial aid, tuition payments, or directs prospective students to the appropriate office or administrator when needed. Advises graduate students on program requirements, policies and procedures. Assists students to navigate and access support services at the University. Counsels students on program options and career pathways. Certifies students have completed degree requirements. Assists with immigration and admission requirements and processes. Coordinates student admission process including working directly with the graduate school, UCIE, school chairs, faculty, and department staff as necessary Utilize admissions and student databases to support advising and intake.
(20%) Engagement and Retention
Develops plan to improve student success and retention for RSCOB MS programs. Develops and maintains relationships with current international students. Serves as MS program hub for receiving, managing, using, and disseminating student information as needed Coordinates student orientation, informational, and social events each semester Organizes and runs residency programs or bootcamps for MS students as needed. Collaborates with UCIE, Graduate School, Raider Connect and other colleges at Wright State to work on international student success. Participates in International student orientation and helps with new student immigration check-in. Collaborates and interacts with various international student organizations Plans and executes workshops and events for international students by building an ambassador program to share international culture and encourage study abroad and student exchange programs to support diversity on campus. Coordinates corporate and student advisory board meetings for MS programs as well as student-related organizations. Develops, updates, and maintains a database of industry contacts for recruitment of prospective industry advisors, speakers, and other industry participants..
(20%) Marketing and Recruitment
Leads RSCOB recruitment efforts for domestic and international MS students Coordinates handling, organization and fulfillment of incoming new student prospect leads Coordinates MS student recruitment with College and University-level recruitment activities Works with RSCOB chairs and other program directors to optimize recruitment tactics as needed. Communicates with prospective students to increase interest in RSCOB MS programs, using methods such as events (both in person and virtual); email, website, social media, etc. Recommends improvements to the design and production of marketing materials, newsletters, and targeted email campaigns. Recommends improvements to program websites to ensure that prospective students have up-to-date and relevant information. Promotes the MS programs at industry events, site visits, and professional association meetings. Develops and maintains relationships with current international students and enlists them to help communicate with prospective students. Develops strategy to to successfully place MS students into appropriate campus jobs, internships and full-time positions. Collaborates with Career Services to make appropriate referrals to facilitate placement of students in positions to complement their academic experience. Collaborates with college and university units to assist students with career opportunities. Develops relationships with employers most likely to hire our MS students. Develops alumni database and utilizes for program communications and outreach. Facilitates activities to encourage employers to connect to students. Writes job recommendations for student applications for internships and full-time positions as needed Understands how to work in pre-CPT, CPT, and OPT job search stages with international students in coordination with UCIE, Career Consulting, potential employers, Handshake, etc.
(15%) Program Support
Offers support services to ensure academic success of international students by encouraging intercultural cognizance and understanding of US educational and campus life. Advises on academic integrity policies, procedures, and helps handle violations; Recommends revisions to policies and procedures Collaborates with college and university units to assist transfer students, international students, open houses, and career services and opportunities. Develops materials for events/communications. Purchases relevant supplies for communications and office operations, as needed. Other duties as assigned Non-Essential Functions and percent of time: Working Conditions Typical office environment.
