The Graduate Program in Speech-Language Pathology is hiring an Academic Director & Full-Time Faculty member and is approved by the New York State Education Department and is ASHA certified program. It offers a 58 credit Master’s degree program. Faculty members are involved in teaching, scholarly activities and service to the institution and the community.

Responsibilities

In addition to the traditional duties of the full-time faculty listed below, the academic director will:

Assist in all reportsAssist in budgetAssist and oversee admissionsCoordinate schedule of academic classes and calendar including start and end datesOversee registrationOversee and help conduct open housesOversee and deal with student issues. Refer to chair if needed.Coordination and integrity of student digital files. Check files periodicallyCollaborate with faculty to identify students at risk.Conduct peer reviews (or assign others to do so)Special projects as designated by chairWork closely with Chair on all ASHA reports and state submissionsTeach 2 courses per semester (release time from one course).Advisement of students; Meetings must occur a minimum of once per semester.Maintain completed advisement sheets after each session.Complete and submit (to student, advisor, chair and in file) any problem alert and remediation forms.Notify Department Chair of any changes in schedule, student issues and general problems.Follow program and college procedures for submission of any requisitions, conference requests and travel.Update CV annuallySubmit annually ASHA and state licensures as they expire.Complete required CEUsConduct end of semester self-reflections of students.Participate in summer retreat, all faculty meetings, and all training session provided by the college.Post official office hours.Attend faculty meetingsResearch and presentationsClinical teaching may be possibleParticipate in departmental and /or college wide committeesPrepare syllabi as needed in format used by the program.Prepare course outlines each semester in format used by the program.Provide course outlines, assign texts.Conduct all scheduled classes: start and end classes on timeSpecial projects as designated by directorSubmit annual report at the end of the academic year.Supervise student’s completion of online surveys.Mentor students when appropriate for research projectsParticipate in Interprofessional activities of the collegeParticipate in scholarly activities such as research, publications, presentations, grant writingDevelopment of online courses if asked.Participate in all online trainingParticipate in preparation for and attend all aspects of the site visit for reaccreditationOversee new programs (example women’s only acerated program Qualifications

Education/ Experience

PhD or other doctoral equivalent in Speech Pathology or a related field from an accredited universityASHA certificationEligibility for State licensureResearch
