Job Description

We are looking for an Academic Editor to join our team!

The editor will work with the instructional design team to ensure consistency and adherence to the university style guide. The editor will also be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining the style guide for all student and faculty-facing materials.  

Collaborate with various departments to create and maintain a style guide used by all programs at Unitek Learning.Edit documents and electronic content for clarity, grammar, syntax, word usage, format, and consistency.Preview graphics, video, and sound to ensure context, fairness, and consistency.Ensure all student and faculty-facing material is free from bias.Facilitate internal training sessions on technical writing guidelines.Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary starting at $55k

QualificationsBachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or Journalism or a relevant field.3-5 year’s editing experience, preferably in higher education.Thorough knowledge of grammar, punctuation, writing convention, and syntax.Excellent time management and organizational skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe applications.Strong oral and written communication skills.Proficient in understanding and teaching academic writing and citation styles, especially APA Style.Understanding of copyright and how it relates to the online classroom.Editing sample will be required prior to interview.
