4 Year Degree The key principles of this job are to: Support the Mission & Vision of the ACU Athletic Department to honor Christ through excellence in academics and athletics.Scope: To create and implement programming to ensure academic support and success of student-athletes at ACU and to assist with institutional, Western Athletic Conference, and NCAA reporting in the areas of student academic performance.
I. Basic Responsibilities
A. Work in collaboration with the Athletic Academic Coordinators to develop academic support services for assigned student-athletes. B. Provide academic mentoring services for at-risk student-athletes. Weekly meetings with student-athletes and overseeing study hall. C. Serve as a liaison between the athletic department and the Tutoring Center, Writing Center, and Speaking Center.

1.Academic Support Services -Collaborate with the Athletic Academic Coordinators to design and implement academic success plans for NCAA metrics. -Create learning resources and programs that promote student-athlete engagement, accountability, and academic success. -Design and implement individualized education plans for student-athletes with specific learning difficulties or academic challenges. -Help student-athletes set up meetings as necessary with the Tutoring Center, Writing Center, and Speaking Center.
2.Mentoring Services -Facilitate study hall sessions (including on some evenings and weekends). -Weekly grade checks and meetings with coaches -Develop and/or strengthen fundamental academic skills using appropriate learning strategies, including in the areas of time management, organization, and study skills. -Provide daily academic support to the most at-risk student-athletes. Meet one-on-one reviewing assignments, grades, academic deadlines, and progress in courses. -Create a master calendar for each student-athlete with due dates for all assignments, projects, tests, and exams throughout the semester. Establish checkpoints and goals with each of the student-athletes to meet the final deadlines. -Assist with coordination of all incoming student-athlete assessment mechanisms (reading and writing comprehension, study skills, etc.), including identifying possible learning disabilities and testing referrals.
3.Collection and Analysis of Student-Athlete Academic Data -Maintain excused travel letters and data on absence totals for student-athletes. -Oversee scholarship book purchase and return procedures. -Collect data and statistics required for various reports (e.g. hours attempted and earned, athlete graduation rates, GPA, probation and suspension list). -Assist in the compilation of data required for any national, regional, or Western Athletic Conference academic awards.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with workers for special events (NCAA/Western Athletic Conference events).

A. Skills
Experience in academic programming, advising, and support. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Proficiency in conflict management, mediation, and resolution. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights or weekends. Competence with various software packages: Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Drive, Banner, etc.Qualifications

A. Professional
Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations Academic advising or support programming experience preferred (1-2 years)B. Personal
