Come work as Surgical Oncology and Reconstructive Surgeon with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

The University of British Columbia and the Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in Vancouver invite applications for an academic Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Reconstructive Surgeon, with a Clinical Faculty appointment in the UBC Department of Surgery. 

 

The individual we seek will provide tertiary and quaternary level Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Reconstructive Surgical care (0.6 FTE), with a commitment to, track record of and expertise in Head and Neck Oncology Research (0.4 FTE).  Clinically, the applicant must demonstrate comfort with managing complex clinical and surgical head and neck oncology patients including mucosal, salivary gland and endocrine surgery as well as expertise in transoral robotic surgery (TORS) and microvascular reconstruction.

 

The Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, University of British Columbia is involved in undergraduate and post-graduate programs and the applicant is expected to play an integral role in both didactic and clinical/surgical teaching, and further the research mandate of the Division. 

On-call services will cover the Vancouver General Hospital and Providence Health Care facilities (Mount St. Joseph’s and St. Paul’s Hospitals) as well as being available for tertiary/quaternary referral services for the province. Payment is a fee-for-service model through the Medical Services Plan of B.C. The first two years of the 0.4 FTE academic component will have guaranteed funding after which the candidate is expected to source funding for the academic component of the FTE. 

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC)- MandatoryCanadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)Applicants must have certification in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) and be licensed or eligible for a license to practice in the Province of British Columbia.Surgical SkillsExpertise in management of complex Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Reconstruction with at least a one-year accredited fellowship through either a Canadian or an American Head and Neck Surgical Oncology Fellowship program.Expertise with TORS, Microvascular Reconstruction or Facial Reanimation At least a Masters’ level degree in a discipline related to Head and Neck Research such as machine learning/artificial intelligence, translational medicine or clinical epidemiology

Knowledge & Abilities:

Show evidence of exceptional interpersonal and collaborative skillsFurther advance the clinical and academic productivity, and strategic goals of the UBC Division of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery;Further the mandate of the Division for exceptional educational experiences for trainees, including UBC medical students, OHNS residents and fellows and other Closing Statement
