**POSITION DETAILS**
The successful candidate for the position of Clinical Placement Specialist, Office of Clinical Experience, will arrange and oversee field placements for undergraduate and graduate teacher education students. The ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge and a thorough understanding of the New York City public school system and be able to successfully support field placements that prepare teacher candidates to serve the needs of the diverse, urban student population. Hunter College is looking for candidates with skills across developmental levels (Early, Childhood and Adolescent --Kindergarten - 12th Grade) and learning communities (general education, special education, English language learners, etc.)
The Clinical Placement Specialist will:
¿ Work with faculty and the Office of Clinical Experience to identify and place student teachers in clinical placements across New York City; contribute to the assessment of the effectiveness of current field placements and determine future placement needs; working with faculty and OCE leadership, identify sites and mentors for future placements; coordinate clinical supervision (as needed); monitor adherence of programs to New York State certification guidelines for field experience and student teaching.
¿ Communicate with school district personnel, school administrators, and mentor teachers to support and maintain relationships that lead to quality field experiences for pre-service teachers; coordinate and contribute to orientation sessions for mentor teachers to outline their role in the preparation of pre service teachers; manage information sharing and support for the placement and mentorship provided to student teachers in the clinical placement.
¿ Organize and contribute to orientation sessions for teacher candidates and faculty to inform them of the field requirements and field placements; advise individual students, on an ongoing basis, of field and student teaching requirements – troubleshooting individual cases as necessary; contribute to a wide variety of professional development workshops and support services for teacher candidates, both at Hunter College and the school sites.
¿ Working with the OCE staff, develop and update written guides and other materials on field requirements for students, faculty, and public school personnel; maintain administrative files and records of clinical experiences, including providing compensation to cooperating teachers supervising teachers; contribute to other projects as needed.
¿ General contributions to school-wide School of Education events and/or special projects, as needed.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
Bachelor’s degree and four years of related experience required; master’s degree in education or related area strongly preferred. Experience with teacher preparation and certification programs, in-school teacher preparation or professional development, and/or teaching or administration experience in a public school setting is required. Experience in many of these areas in New York City schools strongly preferred. The candidate should be self-motivated and possess outstanding organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. The candidate should have strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and Google Drive.

- Acts as liaison between the College and employer sponsors, monitoring the success of students' internship experiences
- Supervises student internships, assuring adherence to related College and governmental policies and regulations
- Creates and conducts orientation sessions and workshops for students in the internship program; coordinates applications, interviews, and placement as part of overall student outreach
- Provides faculty orientation and development related to internship programs
- Implements and evaluates competencies and other success factors
- Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience ($62,411 - $90,375).
