Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure): Open Rank & Title Engineering Academic & Student Affairs Location Ft Worth Open Date 6/5/2025 Position ID 162705 Description The Engineering Academic & Student Affairs office, College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for up to one academic professional track (non-tenure accruing) faculty position with full-time potential at the instructional assistant professor, instructional associate professor, instructional professor, associate professor of the practice or professor of the practice levels with industry experience and/or teaching expertise in engineering. This position would be serving a 9-month appointment with an anticipated employment beginning August 2025 for the Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Tarrant County College in Ft. Worth, TX. The successful applicant will teach primarily at the undergraduate level and provide extensive support for the Texas A&M Engineering Academies including developing and implementing improvements to instructional techniques and participating in all aspects of the first-year faculty meetings in College Station. The successful applicant will be responsible for the organization, delivery, evaluation and assessment of the engineering courses and student outcomes associated with those courses. The engineering courses include, but may not be limited to introductory engineering; python programming; statics and dynamics; mechanics and electricity & magnetism. Successful applicants will also serve as a liaison between engineering faculty/staff and the two-year partner institutions, recruiting of students into the engineering program, and advise and mentor undergraduate students and student organizations. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Experience as a practicing engineer in Industry is required. The Texas A&M Engineering Academies, in partnership with two-year institutions, is the first engineering transition program of its kind in the United States. The Engineering Academies offer students interested in pursuing an engineering, engineering technology, or computer science degree at Texas A&M University the opportunity to begin co-enrolled at a partner two-year institution and Texas A&M University – College Station. These talented students will be enrolled in Texas A&M engineering courses, taught by Texas A&M faculty, while simultaneously taking their science, mathematics, and core curriculum courses at the two-year college. Qualifications For appointments at Associate Professor of the Practice or Professor of the Practice level, applicants must have, at the minimum, a master's level degree appropriate for the field (closely related engineering or science discipline) in which the faculty member will teach and significant teaching experience at the college/school level in the field or in a related field, or have an extraordinary record of accomplishment in an applied setting. Experience as a practicing engineer is required. There may be additional requirements depending on the specific faculty title. For appointments at Instructional Assistant Professor, Instructional Associate Professor, or Instructional Professor level, applicants must have a doctoral degree in a closely related engineering or science discipline, or a master's level degree appropriate for the field in which the faculty member will teach and significant teaching experience at the college/school level in the field or in a related field, or have an extraordinary record of accomplishment in an applied setting. Experience as a practicing engineer is required. There may be additional requirements depending on the specific faculty title.
