**POSITION DETAILS**
The CUNY Fatherhood Academy (CFA) at Hostos Community Collegeis a free program designed to assist young fathers, who are unemployed or underemployed, prepare for and enroll into college and/or training programs as a path towards long-term economic sustainability for themselves and their families. CFA provides a variety of supports including GED preparation classes, tutoring, individualized counseling, parenting seminars, financial incentives, and job preparation. The program is targeted to serve 250 Black and Latino fathers, ages 18–30, throughout New York City.
The Academic Program Coordinator will report directly to the Program Manager. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
+ Maintains a caseload of active and alumni participants. Provides individual and group counseling, coaching, mentoring, and career exploration support.
+ Facilitates workshops geared to educate, inspire and guide participants towards an awareness of their worth as young men and fathers within their families and communities while helping to address barriers to self- sufficiency and effective parenting.
+ Prepares educational plans for program participants which includes academic assessment, preparation for employment, parenting instruction, marriage/relationship skills development, supportive services, and follow-up.
+ Coordinates and tracks participant attendance and progress throughout program participation using case notes and program database. Maintains and analyzes program data and prepares reports.
+ Assists with outreach and recruitment activities including recruiting prospective applicants, attending virtual and in person events, posting on social media, and engaging with active and potential community partners on an ongoing basis.
+ Screens applicants for eligibility and conducts orientation sessions.
+ Researches and connects participants to educational and vocational opportunities based on their individualized long-term goals, as appropriate.
+ Assists inorganizingfield trips,off-site family events, job fairs and graduation ceremonies.
+ Performs related duties as assigned.
+ Essential duties require on-campus presence.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
Bachelor's Degree required.
The following qualifications are preferred:
+ Bachelor Degree in social work, counseling or related degree.
+ Two (2) years’ experience counseling fathers, young adults, or a related population.
+ The ideal candidate will also have experience working with the target population and experience working in a college or university setting.
+ Strong organizational, time-management, and administrative skills.
+ Strong technical skills and familiarity with databases; ability to lead sessions virtually using Zoom, Google classroom, and other educational apps.
+ Willingness and ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and work with or without supervision; experience with program start-ups a plus.
+ Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
+ Ability to work in a diverse environment and exhibit sociocultural competence and understanding.
+ Demonstrate leadership, problem-solving, decision-making and creative thinking skills.
+ Excellent attention to detail and record keeping.
+ Knowledge of existing academic standards and familiarity with Common Core Learning Standards, GED preparation, work readiness and college placement exams.
+ Ability to work on occasional nights and weekends.
**CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW**
Provides basic operational and analytical support related to a College's specialized academic program.
- Supports the directors and managers with orientation preparation, student advisement regarding program requirements, and providing basic information about financial aid and registration
- Manages office records including faculty files; prepares reports and surveys; collects and maintains statistical data on program activities
- Serves as liaison to various College offices to provide service delivery and appropriate referrals to students
- Collects and reviews syllabi to ensure compliance with standards
- Serves as resource person for students and faculty regarding program policies and procedures
- May supervise office operations and/or monitor department budget
- Performs related duties as assigned.

$47,861 - $57,517; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
