Academic SEEK Student Support Specialist - SEEK Program at Hunter College, Division of Student Affairs **POSITION DETAILS** The Academic SEEK Student Support Specialist will report to the SEEK Program Director. SEEK (Search for Education, Elevation, and Knowledge) is a higher education opportunity program established at the senior CUNY colleges to provide comprehensive academic support to assist capable students who otherwise might not be able to attend college. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Academic SEEK Student Support Specialist will be responsible for the following duties: + Provides personal, career, and educational advising to individuals and groups + Monitors student utilization of SEEK program services and academic performance + Assesses students' academic, personal and career development needs + Determine areas of need and refer students to appropriate services + Assists students in setting goals and priorities for success + Maintains records regarding services provided and assists with related report-writing on activities and outcomes + Leads freshman and transfer orientation courses + Conducts student workshops on academic probation, study skills. test-taking strategies, time management, success and motivation or other relevant topics + Participates in program planning and assessment + Participates on college-wide committees, as appropriate **QUALIFICATIONS** + A master's degree in counseling, social work, or psychology and two years' related experience. Other related master's degree can be considered. + Note: this is not a mental health counselor/practitioner position and is not responsible for providing psychological counseling **Preferred Qualifications** + Strong organizational and administrative abilities are essential, as are excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. **CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW** Provides educational programs, academic advice, and assistance to SEEK students.
